DAC question

Im running soundcard x-fi  (optical) > gamma2 (rcas') > KICAS headphone amp  > beyer cans.

 

at the moment running usb power on the dac, until i get suitable power. volume out of the can runs quite low, even at noon on the kicas, its not that loud.

 

anyone have any input/possible reasons as to why this might be ....   thanks.

What impedance are your Beyers?

DT990  @  250.

Is the volume on your computer, in whatever software you're using, set at maximum?  Do you know what the gain is set at on the KICAS? It might have a low gain setting.

volume is set at 100% on the PC.... gain is 6db non-adjustable.
