Hello everybody,
I have been reading threads on this forum for months now, and am glad to join. The people here seem to want to help, from the guys and gals into budget unamped portable rigs to the people who have full blown home audio setups. I can see there is a place for everyone here, from the basshead to the detail freak and every degree in between. I used to scoff at people with Ipods, saying things like, "Why carry your music around with you? When I want to listen, I'll just play music on my stereo." However, four months ago I bought a Sansa Fuze and Skullcandy Skullcrushers to take along on a long bus ride with friends. These worked okay until the Skullcrushers broke, which I didn't care about as I realized their sound was not that great. I then bought the UE Metrofi 150VI IEMs for, which I was very happy (and still am happy) about, as they had pretty clear sound with enough bass. Of course, I knew what good sound sounded like and knew they weren't the best but I paid twenty dollars for them and received much more than that in enjoyment. I missed headphones, so I bought Audio-Technica AD700 Open headphones and listened for a week before returning them, as their bass was not great and music sounded kind of thin. I did research and found the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones looked like just the right thing for me. They came today, and I am very happy with the sound. They are not bad even straight out of the Fuze, and have nice styling and great comfort. Another plus is I received no listening fatigue from them. I am currently looking to buy an S:Flo2 as I want to push the M50s closer to what they are capable of. My musical tastes are pretty varied, as I usually like anything catchy but not usually top 40. I appreciate good classical music and love Inspired Bach, an upbeat remake of Bach's music. I have always loved rock, bands like Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park, Green Day, The All American Rejects, and Nickelback, Flyleaf, and P.O.D. I have also liked Dragonforce for a while, as they are amazingly fun to listen to while sounding almost cheerful. I have always loved Paul Oakenfold ever since I heard Ready Steady Go, and have his Greatest Hit and Remixes CD, which I have listened to many times. Dread Rock by Paul Oakenfold is one of my all time favorites. Armin Van Buuren, BT, Tiesto, and Cascada also sound amazing, and I really respect good electronic music such as trance. As for Hip Hop and Rap, I do not like profanity or immorality in songs, but have found some of this music that is not bad at all, and appreciate the beats, bass, and rhymes. I recently discovered Disturbed and like their songs that are not extremely offensive or dark. As for how I like my music, I like a good bit of bass being used to big woofers from a stereo I had, as long as it doesn't ruin the other parts of the music. The M50s I received seem to have very good bass but are also very detailed and but not fatiguing. Sorry if this is too long, I just wanted to get my tastes out there so everyone can understand where I am coming from. Thank you all for reading!
George
P.S.
Don't be afraid to use the most technical of terms with me, as I have picked up on the lingo and enjoy learning about different hobby's dialect.
