I personally disagree. Going on a temporary "diet" will never accomplish anything in the long run. In fact, your metabolism could just end up even more effed up after you get off the diet and the excess protein intake could damage your liver and kidneys. Rather than doing any "diets," work on establishing good eating habits and maintain your exercise routine.

Just really start planning out your diets. 6 small meals daily is ideal, but even 3 would suffice if you follow those guidelines. The main issue here is a lot of us have no self control when it comes to eating the food we want to eat and not eating the food we need to eat.

Actually you can lose 10 pounds or more in a day if you wanted to, however that wouldn't be very healthy. Instead of judging your fitness by what the scale tells you, look in the mirror and decide if you are accomplishing your goals and if your efforts are satisfactory. You could even take it up an notch and measure body fat %.

Atkins worked great for me...until the kidney stones hit. Worst pain I've ever experienced. Apparently a side effect of high protein intake. Add in one car accident and I'm back up again.

This thread is somewhat of a memento of my recent diet regime. I used to go to gym years ago back in high school but ever since I entered college uh oh not a chance. I gained weight gradually and slowly over the years and one day about 4 months ago I told myself, "enough. I'm losing weight." So I did. I was a tad heavy build at 165lbs and brought it down to 137-138lbs now. So close to 30 pounds I lost. Took me about 2 months and a half and it was not fun.

The 1st week I cut down my eating by half so at night I almost couldn't sleep due to starvation and my stomach used to mewl in pain. To top it off I resumed doing 100 push-ups and 150 sit-ups every or every other day that I used to do back in high school. After the 1st week the body slowly adjusted to the less energy intake so the hunger gradually lightened. Nevertheless it still persisted but I told myself no pain no gain. Bought a Tanita bathroom scale and weighed myself the next morning and lo and behold I lost 0.5-0.7lb over night. I was like wtf....is that's all I lost after all that ordeal and starvation I went through?!! Omg...you gotta be kidding me.

2nd week, cut down my eating by another half, so it's 1/4 or less of what I used to eat before. I stopped ordering takeouts at my school campus for lunch and supplanted it w/ a slice of bread and a bottle of water. For dinner a cup of rice and 2 pieces of small meat sliced into tiny pieces so it would give me the illusion of chewing several pieces. Scrutinized my progress every day and the most frustrating part? There was a time when I was stuck at 150 for 1 full week. Didn't eat any less or more so what the hell is going on!!! Ugh but within the next few days brought it down below 150. Now I'm below 140. My buddies tell me I lost so much weight and I grin. My jean has gotten so loose I seriously need a new pair. My cheekbones became predominant and give nice cuts on my face as a result and I like it. My belly fat which used to bother me quite a bit has disappeared into oblivion. When I get on a bus and take a seat I can feel my hip bones against the seat and feel a little uncomfortable. I relied on fruits and vegetables for the 1st several weeks to ease the pain of hunger but eventually I got so used to it if I didn't feel hungry I felt something was wrong and I wasn't losing weight. People told me to eat less but more frequently but to be honest, I'm a lazy lad. I hate post-meal mundane procedures, so I just ate 2 meals a day as I always have been. Eating was something I used to take for granted and as a given and did not expect how much I missed the joy of eating. It thoroughly tests your perseverance and willpower I say. :]
