SOLD: Sennheiser IE8 (from Fake/Real Comparison Thread!)

THESE ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

Hello all,

Up for sale is my much admired Sennheiser IE8 that I purchased only 6 months back in November 2009.

As you may know, I am the creator of the "Fake IE8 Comparison" thread, and these are the real Sennheiser IE8s which were displayed in the comparison pictures of that thread.

Rest assured, you can have 100% peace of mind that these are genuine IE8s. I have included a picture of the receipt from J&R, the authorized dealer that I purchased these from for their full retail price at $400.

I am selling these IE8s with everything that they originally included, except for the box which I discarded a while ago.

This includes:

(1) Genuine Sennheiser IE8.
(2) Sets of Ear Guides which came with the IE8.
(3) All of the original eartips, in plastic.*
(4) The instruction manual in plastic.
(5) The cord clip unopened, still in plastic.
(6) Bass Port Adjustment Tool
(7) The Sennheiser IE8 Portable Box**

(8) Knowing that you owned the pair of IE8s that was in the popular comparison thread .

*NOTE: Since I am an advocate of dismissing all info, I will also state that three (3) eartips are missing their counterpart pair. I must have lost the other eartips while changing eartips. Every other eartip has its counterpart pair. The three eartips missing are coincidentally all three small sized eartips.

**NOTE: The Sennheiser IE8 Portable Box that I am including in this sale is NOT the original Sennheiser IE8 box that came with my purchase. Because I made the Fake/Real IE8 comparison thread, I had to decide which box to keep before I sent my fake IE8s back for a refund. I decided to keep the fake box because they did everything that the real box did, and more importantly, because I could help others decide if their IE8s were fake or not by having the fake box in my hands.

Please understand that everything else is 100% genuine. The box serves all the functions of the original IE8 box (I know considering I held both in my hand), and even has the silica gel packet underneath the compartment to help reduce moisture from the IE8s.

Since these Sennheiser IE8s were purchased at retail price from an authorized retailer, they retain their 2 year warranty, which should be now 1 1/2 years (you can see the receipt in the pictures--purchased 11/17/09). I have treated these IE8s with extreme care, never jamming them in my pockets or tying them around my MP3 player.

They have no scratches, scuff marks, or any detriments. They are completely immaculate in condition (you can see this in the pictures--there is no signs of distress or pressure near the wire, jacks, or anywhere on the IEM).

Finally you may be asking, why am I selling these? Although I really enjoyed the sound signature and dynamics of the IE8, after listening to other sound signatures, I have decided that I prefer a more balanced sound. These IE8s perform remarkably with all music, and you will be sure to have a grin the first time you play music through them. My reason to sell these is just based on the music I listen to and personal preference.

Also, these IE8s are fully burned in, with well over 500 hours played on them. This means you do not have to burn them in for their true sound signature to appear. They will hold their true sound signature as soon as you play your first song on them .

Since this is my first sale on head-fi, you can check my eBay profile for my feedback (100%).

I ship using USPS Priority Mail (2-3 days max), will provide a tracking number, and ship from New York City.

Since I purchased these at their retail price of $400 (more with tax combined), I am willing to take a financial hit by selling these for $290 $280 $265 $250 (shipping included in price). These are completely immaculate and have no signs of wearing out anytime soon.

Payment will be through PayPal only, please send it as a gift (I want to avoid PayPal fees). I am shipping to the continental United States only. Once again, a tracking number will be provided and shipping is included in the price.

First to say "I'll take it." via PM gets it .

If you have any questions, you are more than free to ask! Thank you!

Such a well written post.

I have to say thank you for writing the fake IE8 thread, because it allowed me to purchase a genuine IE8 while I was in HK.

Good luck on your sale.

"i'll take it!"

tentaively, i mean.  your offer of 290 is extremely generous but i'd like to offer 250+ shipping to 99801

what sort of music do you listen to anyway?  i have a pretty rounded out palette but i've been hearing a lot of electronica and hip hop lately, so how would these fare?

obviously i'm just getting my foot in the door about these IEMs and am also looking at the dba-02's so a response will be really helpful in making my decision, since these are about $120 more than i planned to spend initially

i use a pair of koss porta-pro's right now and had some akg k701's a year ago but i believe the wiring was faulty as they were second hand and the bass crunched at low frequncies which other sets handled just fine.  so that's my history just let me know what you think about everything and my offer :]

i would have pm'ed you but my allotment is up for the day ;p

@Trysaeder: Hey, no problem. I'm glad I was able to help you and others.

@mrmach7: We can speak over PM over any deal you might propose. The IE8s are known for their bass response and impact, and I can say for certain that you can't do wrong with the IE8s and hip-hop/electronica, they suit each other perfectly. I listen to a lot of j-pop and k-pop, as well as a fair bit of neo/classical music (Nobuo Uematsu and others), so I have come to appreciate a more balanced sound signature with less bass. However, for hip-hop/electronica, which utilizes a lot of bass, the IE8s are a perfect match. I have not read much about the DBA-02's, so I can't speak much about them.

Also, there has been a price drop.

Hi Do you still have Sennheiser IE8 for sale? Please let me know. My email : vondutch131@yahoo.com

Are these still available? I also listen to a lot of Jpop and Kpop, would these suit this type of music or should I look for a different set of headphones? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

R these still available?

Will it matter to you after the sale if the person appreciates them? You're not going to really think about it, you'll be too busy counting that $$$$$$$. Mainly, you just need the sale and the $

Since they were purchased from JR and comne with a sales receipt, I definitely say this is one hell of a deal and I approve!

I liked the IE8 except for the fact that they hurt my ears after 5 minutes...this around the ear design will never cut it for me. I literally took them out after 5 minutes and I felt the stings they left inside of my ear canal.

ya I read some people find the plastic housing of the actual iem really discomforting but personally, I've never had such problem.

I was worried about this fact when purchasing my IE8.

I use them for hours per day with movies and songs but they do not bother me which is very fortunate. I've actually fell asleep once or twice with them on.

And they do very well with kpop
