Ohno Continuous Cast copper (OCC) LUX FEP

Hi I am wondering if its worth getting this cable with my new headphones:

http://www.aloaudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_12&products_id=445

Its new and I see its cheaper than the other two cable options, 18g SXC and 18AWG.

I want the best sound quality possible.

Thanks.

bump, anyone got this new cable?

I really want to order, cant make up my mind between SXC and OCC LUX FEP.

Get it - cables don't make anything but an aesthetic and shielding difference imo. An even cheaper version would be to get the stock headphone - you're saving money you could use on other more important parts of your system.

Cables are highly contested and brings out a lot of arguments either way. You will have people divided in three basic groups: love them, hate them, don't care.

I believe cables can and do enhance the sound but they are expensive and may add 5% to 20% of difference under the best conditions. Ken of ALO does superb work and has an excellent customer service. Good luck.

Spend the money on better gear first indeed.

just want to clarify/add... shielding doesn't really offer anything for headphone cables except extra weight and bulk.

Thanks for replies, but some people say that cables dont really add anything, I thought that at first but then I read this thread

http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/299731/ultrasone-hfi780-alo-mod

And Ken from ALO and many other members notice that the mod he does + cable makes the cans sound 95% of Edition 9, which is very expensive (for me).

If I could get Edition 9 sound at half the cost I would be very happy.

I am still leaning towards SXC because many people are happy with it, and I heard nothing about the OCC.

Don't waste your money based on subjective views of cans you've never heard from people you don't know. Everyone's hearing is different and in my opinion, the only thing cables trigger is the placebo effect. Get the stock headphones and a decent DAC or amp for the same money. Better still, get the stock headphone and spend the rest on more music!

@ the OP: are you implying that you're purchasing HFI 780s? If so, then most members who've owned the headphones believe that recabling this specific headphone does add an increase in performance as the stock cable is rather poor.

I'm in the same boat as you, currently trying to decide which wire to get for my HFI 780s. There are cryo copper wires from many different manufacturers and range in price from around $2 per foot to around $6 per foot. Not to high jack this thread, but can anyone tell me what the difference is (other than price) between the $2 and $6 copper?

I have made up my mind buying the alo modded HFI 780s just because of the sheer amount of praise that it gets and especially for my type of music: trance.

I still havent made up my mind between the pure copper cable (OCC) vs copper + silver (SXC).

Ken from ALO says OCC sounds better but I would like to get another opinion if possible before I finally order.

IMO you're wasting money that could be spent on an actual improvement but perhaps go for the one that looks better to you if that's any consolation for said wasted money.
