Long time since last Toronto meet? - Page 3

I'd offer, but I doubt many people would be thrilled at having a head-fi meet in a student house.

If we meet a Bay Bloor Radio let me know, maybe I can ask them if they are willing to host it since they do know me and I can get everyone there a discount if you guys do choose to buy anything.

Are you sure that BBR will even let us host an event like this in their store?  I would kind of doubt it.

There has been an event at the Toronto Reference Library and generally libraries with meeting rooms are available for rent, though they generally don't want people to get too loud.

Sorry - but you do NOT have headphone meets at retail stores - kind of defeats the whole purpose of a meet, which is a friendly get together at someones home usually where you can listen to other audiophiles equipment, sociallize, throw some burgers on the barbie and toss back a few brew.  A headphone meet is NOT intended to be a retail shopping trip whatsoever - and I'm certain that very few people are going to be willing to throw away their dollars on an overpriced, biased and limited selection of headphones.  We're NOT out to buy - we're out to talk, listen and share our love of this hobby.  I can pretty well guarantee you that most members like myself will respectfully decline any such meet - most members reply would be "count me OUT"!

Overpriced and biased? You can't say that about them and their giant wall of Bose!

;)

I agree with Charlie, I'd prefer the relaxed stylings of a house with the drinking and the barbies.

If bay bloor radio had a quiet room we could audition in I'd still show up, but they're really not set for that. I'd obviously prefer a less retail environment anyhow. How's that student house someone mentioned? :P

The student house is kind of lacking in space and dirty, as would be expected of one :P Also, only one room is my own, and I can't fit more than 5 or so people in it, and I doubt my housemates would be thrilled at having a whole bunch of strangers in the house lol.

How much does it cost to rent a meeting room at the Toronto Reference Library?

A 3hr meet would be $75 in a meeting room.  Not too bad at all.

Choose a branch like the Beaches where its easy to go to a pub afterwords

If we choose a date far enough away, I might have my EHHA and Kumisa done.

There's jack aster's that's right around the corner, korean bbq, sushi, whatever you want.

Eh... I'm guessing that with the inclusion of liquor there's an age requirement for attending the meet.  Right?

I don't think you are allowed to drink liquor in the library.

And why would there be an age requirement?

I think he means for the after-pub-drink-a-thon. If we go this route, I say we do it early enough where the sub 19 crowd can still get into a sports bar via the restaurant.

I'm up for another meet. I just don't know if I can host one. I'll get back to ya'll on that one...

I'm glad to hear that I can attend!  It's really cool that as fellow members of this forum we can share a friendly compact.

Is it expected that I bring my rig with me?
