I use mine everyday. If I'm not listening to music, I use it for gaming, facebook, checking scores, weather, etc.  I have wifi at work and at home, so I'm always connected.  My laptop hasn't been touched in ages.  I predict 5 pages of apps in a week, tops.. LOL  Enjoy.

Same thing here - wifi at home and work. It's so convenient to check email at home from wherever without having to go to a computer, even though there are 6 in the house! Only thing is I have to have my 1.0 "cheaters" with me so I can see. Getting old sucks!

Yes it does.. LOL   Not to totally derail the subject, but how do you like the ER-4P's out of your Touch???  I have a pair coming to me this week, and I can't wait to hear them.

I really, really, like them, for a few reasons. First of all, they're comfortable for me. I returned TF10's because I just couldn't get used to them, regardless of the tip. The ER-4P's fit me well, (using the included black foam tips) and isolate very well. Comfort was first on my list because if I can't wear them, SQ is a moot point. As far as SQ, they are very detailed and flat, which to me is a good thing. Some people prefer a a phone that is lively or has certain ranges a little hotter. I personally don't. I rather have the music be as true as possible. EQ can always be added later. Another thing I like is that they are easy for me to insert/remove. Again, I compare to the TF10's - I thought I was stupid because it would take me a good 20 seconds or so to get each side of the TF's seated properly.

I really suggest you spend time finding the tips that work for you. As far as the ER-4P pairing with my new Touch, I'm pretty happy. The Touch has plenty of power, and the Ety's go very nicely. (I listen to older jazz almost exclusively) I've read posts where people say they are not bassy enough. I don't agree with that. The FR graphs for these are nice and flat, and as best as I can tell, reproduce the music how it was recorded. Like a good language interpreter - it doesn't color the translation - just gives it to me straight.

Of course, you may have a completely different experience. I listened (and still do) very critically to them, as I got them from Amazon and still have about 2 1/2 weeks left to return them if I wish. I want to make sure they work well for me personally, and so far, I like them a lot. Let me know what you think. (and no offense taken if you dislike them - to each his own. )

I have the ER4S and to tell you the truth, they sound phenomenal out of the touch. I have to turn the volume up pretty far (about 60% or so), but they sound clear and powerful. Have loved them for years out of almost any sort of source.

Just makes me more happy with the choice I made. Thanks shigzeo!

I've had to bump my normal setting up as well..  The Head-fi'er that I bought my 4P's from included a brand new FiiO E3 with them, so I've been A/B'ing with the amp and without.  The amp hasn't been needed on some pieces, but on others it makes a huge difference.  Some piano pieces are lacking body or fullness to the sound, but with the amp, it's back.  I'm making mental and actual notes for my reviews, so this is still early on (1 hour into testing).  I'm currently using the treble booster EQ setting on my Touch (left from my IE8's).  I tried them with the EQ off, and every other setting and I still prefer the TB setting or Acoustic.  Then again, I'm not a purist, I prefer to EQ my music.

Right there with you.. these are fantastic, especially considering how many years they've been around...

They were worth the wait, at least based on my early impressions.  Only time will tell if these will keep me happy.  If anything, I think the combo of the ER-4P's and a better quality amp might take up residence on my desk... Ouch, my wallet just bit me...

Now as a fellow head-fier, I'm hoping you tell me the amp doesn't make it that much better. I just dropped $399 for the Touch and $175 for the Ety's. An amp will probably be another $250 at least.

If you're satisfied with your Ety's through your Touch, close your browser and slowly walk away...  LOL

I'm sorry to have to break it to you (and your wallet) my friend, but this cheap little $6.00 amp/volume booster has made enough of an impression on me to have me searching for deals in the Amp For Sale forum.  (turn back now)

It really fills out the sound on my Ety's and my new Grado SR60i's.  I almost wish I didn't get the amp with my Ety's now.  I will say this, with the additional boost, my Ety's came alive and my new Grado's sound wonderful.  I've even offered my Sennheiser IE8's up for trade for an Amp/Dac combo or a step up in the Grado line.  After listening to my Ety's through that little amp, I hear "more" bass with no loss in overall definition or clarity.  It warmed up the overall sound of the Ety's but not substantially.  I did notice a bit more soundstage and sparkle when I set the Touch EQ to Treble booster.   The only thing I'll miss about the IE8's (if they go) is the wide soundstage and the ability to rattle fillings from my teeth :)  (final warning)

I will tell you this, if I can't find a trade, I'm not going to go crazy on my first amp.  You can find deals for under $100 for a quality used portable amp and I've read great reviews on Gary's PA2V2 amp. For $60 new, you get a good portable amp and what amounts to lifetime support, you really can't go wrong.  If you want to see/hear the difference for yourself, order one of these FiiO E3's and have a listen.  For $6.25 with free shipping you can grab one from DealExtreme.com.  They label it as a volume booster, but I have to believe it also has a bass boost as well.  It's tiny, but I don't plan on taking any amp with me on the go, it will only be used when sitting at my desk.  I'm quite happy with the Ety's from my Touch on the move.  I just find I'm doing more listening at home lately, which is why I decided to try the entry level Grado's.

Now, It may not seem like it, but I'm almost done.  I'm quite satisfied with what I currently own, and I know, I'll never be able to afford the finest out there.  My goal is simple: find the best sound for my ears within my means.  Some might call it self control or self preservation.  I call it a serious lack of disposable income.  LOL

If I can trade my IE8's for a USB/DAC/AMP.. I'll be done.

My setup will look like this:

Portable (beach - pool - running): Sansa Clip+ - S4's

Portable (dry & safe): iPod Touch - ER-4P's

Home: iPod Touch - LOD - DAC/Amp - Ety's or Grado SR60i

Home: PC - Foobar - USB/DAC/AMP - Ety's or Grado's

I'll live happily ever after, at least until something breaks... LOL

I tried to save you, I really did. But never fear my friend, sometimes ignorance is bliss.  I'll never know what the JH-16's or Sennheiser HD800's sound like and I can't miss something I never had or heard, right??  LOL

Must ... resist ... must ... not ... spend ... weakening ...

Honestly, it's just a matter of time before I get an amp anyway, especially one with a DAC for use at work. I look at some guys and see all they have and am awed. On the other hand, there have been times when I have had 9 guitars totalling well into the 10's of thousands of dollars. Comparatively speaking, there are way more expensive vices. Enjoy!

Oh boy, I know how that goes, I've watched friends of mine do the same thing, and that is a much more expensive hobby.  I'm down to one guitar myself, my custom shop '54 reissue Strat.  Given how little I play and how poorly I play, I'll never have upgraditis there.

I think the purchase of a DAC/Amp combo is inevitable for me also.  I'm happy with the E3's little kick and bass boost, and I can only imagine it scaling up with a better amp.  I also want to bypass the crappy on-board sound in my PC.  There are a couple of iBasso D10's available used in the FS forum.  I may have a crack at one of them if I can find a buyer for my IE8's.

As they say here; "sorry for your wallet".   Happy listening and have a great weekend.

Joey
