problem with play order on Sony Walkman nwzx1060

I am having a strange problem with my Sony x1061. When I try to play an album, the tracks may or may not play in their regular (track number) order. I checked that the Play Mode was normal (not shuffle). Both the track number and file names seem correct (file name of first file is 01..., etc). I checked the manual, no help, couldn't find any guidance by google or head-fi search.

Am I doing something dumb?

thanks, that's probably the problem. I use EasyTAG (linux app) to manage my tags, I'll see how they look under iTunes.

Problem solved, I think. I blundered by converting all my id3 tags to v2.4 using EasyTAG. Silly me thinking that the latest version of ID3 was the right one. I used iTunes to change all tags to id3 v2.3, all the ones I've checked look fine now.

After a little poking on line, it seems id3 v2.4 has not been universally adopted and should be avoided. I also read an online entry that said that EasyTAG will not change the tags back to 2.3 after they've been converted to 2.4. iTunes did this fine, though.
