Yeah. The sound is good and the isolation is great. Maybe I'll get some Senns. But at the price of 30 bucks, you can't really go wrong with the Ex71s. Maybe I'll get them both for 40.79 shipped.

Is there a huge difference between the MX400 and MX500?

Some say a slight difference. But having heard both, I don't hear one. The 500s are blue and have a volume control, both of which I don't like/need.

I'm buying today, still haven't decided on which one. Isolation IS important to me, but the Senns do sound pretty fine. I think I might get both still.

im not trying to be mean, but i hated ex70;s sound, way too dark and almost no detail in sound
on the other hand, e888 and mx400/500 are exellent earbuds

if you like the ex70, then you definitely will like the ex71 too. the ex71s have a shiny bubble where the 2 cords connect. the ex51 have the normal ones. i have both the ex51 and ex71. the ex71 sounds warmer and mellow than the ex51. the ex51 is more forward sounding and is more aggressive. i have the mx400 too and i like both the ex71 and ex51 over the mx400.

i know you said the shures are out of the running, too, but i say get 'em anyway. i can't live without mine now. ebay has the e2c's for less than $80 shipped, factory fresh. Can't beat dat, and you SO won't be sorry you spent the extra $30. A year from now, what's $30? A few cups of coffee at Starbucks? 3 movies? Get the shures!

i prefer my senn mx500 that i just got recently over my friend's 100 hr burnt in ex71's. the ex71 sound great becasue they have a lot of bass, but that's pretty much all they offer. the sound is kinda muffled to me. i think you should RMA the 71's and go get mx500 on newegg.com for 16 bucks with free shipping.

skyles, turns out you were right, the filter was just clogged. but that's okay, because I can still put good use to my old 70s.

Here's my deal now. I've FIXED my EX70s! Stupid me didn't even think that it might have been a clogged filter, which it was. I cleaned it out, and there you go, works good as new. Too late though, as I am expecting my 71s in the mail tomorrow. This isn't too bad though, because my sister really likes her boyfriends 70s, and I'm probably going to give them to her as a present.

So I guess it worked out well. I can give something to my family, and get my buds upgraded (with that neat short cord, too!) BUT, I'm still considering selling them. Who knows?
