AVOID EarPeace Technologies Livewires

I'm sure there are people that have had good experiences with them in the past, but at this point, the company is inches from a scam.

I ordered headphones in October, and was promised a "4-6 week" delivery.  They came in March.  The headphone cable was broken, as was one of the earphones.  Over the last three months I have sent my earphones back to them, only to have them reach me AGAIN, not working.  I have had to send 30+ emails and call 20+ times to get any response from them.  When I finally got through, I requested my ear molds back so I could have a real company make me a pair.  EarPeace's answer:  "they were lost in the mail, we don't have them."  I have even had to build my own cables, as I had 3 cables fail.  EarPeace claimed that the manufacturer of the cable was flawed; yet they kept sending me the same cable.

The company is run by two people who felt they could undercut the $600+ IEM market by having the pieces molded themselves.  Which they do; outsourcing to a company in California.  Today I was told that they have much more important things to deal with than the fact that they lost my ear molds; and that they're going to have other people run the company because "starting this company was a mistake."

I know they have some good reviews from the test sets they sent out for free to musicians and magazines.  That's why I bought them.  However, it is clear that for anyone that isn't a "megastar" like the random session musicians they list on their site, service is way below second class.  I'd like to save some other people the headache.

If anyone else has had similar experiences, please weigh in, as I said, I think this is pretty close to a scam and mods here might want to sticky a warning.

no personal experiences with the company, but I was bored and googled them up and seems it that there were some internal conflict within their company which ended up with Fidelity Custom Earphones breaking away from EarPeace (LiveWires) last year.  I guess what caught my interest and bothered me the most out of all this, is that both companies use some of the same client testimonials, but one of them has taken the liberty of changing the direct quotes and replaced in their own company information (compare &contrast, i.e. Dave McAfee)

I have heard some bad things about EarPeace but have not dealt with them personally.  Luckily, the California branch is a half hour drive from my house, so if I ever dealt with them I could probably just head straight to their branch.

They have had my impression 8 weeks today. They tell me that the shells are done and they are just waiting for a cord to send me. I have no idea why you would still be taking orders if you did not have the parts to complete them. Maybe stop taking orders until you can get your stuff together? At any rate, I am assuming there will be a fitment problem and I will have to send them back for a refund. I can' t wait another 8 weeks.

If you are still within the paypal/credit card window for getting your money back, you might want to investigate those options.  I let too much time lapse and gave them too many chances, now I'm stuck.

I have to say I have had a similar experience with LiveWire/EarPeace.  I got some pretty poor treatment out of the company (that is, John) until he basically told me to go talk to their manufacturer.  As I understand it, (and I may have some, but not all of the facts straight) they are made by Matrics Inc.  I don't ever see anything on Matrics' web site about in-ear monitors, but I had extensive dealings with them after John basically chose to make servicing his client not his problem.  The folks over there were very friendly and accommodated a problem that really wasn't there's with no grief.  I'm not suggesting they'll let EarPeace off the hook and I'm not even sure if EarPeace is still running orders through Matrics (as I understand their relationship may have been severed some time ago), but it might be a clue in the mystery,  Again, I may not have all my facts straight, but my replacements came from Matrics.

As for the overall quality of the product, unfortunately I had, in 3 years, 2 drivers essentially unglue from inside the monitor and start rattling around.  So I sent them back shortly after having received them a number of years ago and John handled the problem quickly.  This time, same issue, and it was a nightmare until I got connected with Matrics.  All that said, I don't know why the drivers are getting disconnected, but it's obviously a big problem when it comes to sound and build quality.  Unfortunately, my new set became victim of my forgetfulness and ended up being left behind in a Delta Airlines seatback pocket before I got to listen to the newest set.  I'm not sure what I'll do for a replacement at this point.  I may go back to Matrics, FWIW.

Hope this helps.  First post here.

Is the Matrics Inc website the one that does plastic injection?  I made the mistake of ordering in ears from the SPLIT OFF company, Inearsystems owned by Earl Neal TN.  I ordered in Sept and to this date, 1/25/12 I have had one email response to my daily emails and phone calls.  Really bad.  I was hoping since they say they are using the same manufacturer that they always have it would be the same one from the Livewire days and be the same one you mention.  I thought I might give them a call and see if they have any ideas.  Thanks for any help.
