What´s your thoughts of this PPS input cap?

Hi!

Just about to begin my journey into DIY headphone amps so I found myself spending a lot of time finding a good input cap from sources available from Sweden. And I ended up on this little gem that shows promise. I just wanted a second opinion if there is someone out there that could give some advice on wethere it is a good candidate or not. The data sheet claims it to:

"Offers excellent sound quality in audio applications." Something rarely seen in data sheets...

Here is the link to the data sheet for this Evox Rifa, SMR5 470 nF 50 VDC, PPS cap.

And, yes. I am aware of that if possible the input cap should be avoided altogether. I haven't checked the sources for DC offset yet so I am bying a cap to have as a safe fallback.

I guess the question is best answered with how much room do you have

and how much do you want to spend?

The Cap you asked about looks OK.

You can get by with a Wima MKS-2 1uF.

Small and cheap.

Or you can go with a more serious cap like these

from Solen.

I live in Canada so I am not sure what is available from Sweden.

Good luck with your build!

Ok, thanks.

The cap will by used in a pimeta build in a small case, so the one you listed will be to large I am afraid. There where a number of radial polyprolene ones I could have chosen though. Well. Hopefully I can skip the input cap altogether (depending on DC offset on source).

EDIT: Spelling!
