Which do you prefer for non biased audio info? Stereomojo, Stereophile, or 6moons.

IMO, Stereomojo has less of it.. & I find it the better read with more valuable information.

My ears.

Stereophile at least takes some good measurements, I understand.

Stereophile takes measurements on occasion, although I still find much to fault in their reviews. 6moons I just completely disregard. Every review is completely subjective, lacking in anything verifiable. In fact, if you read them you will find a curious correlation between the price of a product and its apparent quality.

Subjectivity has its place, but verifiable and objective measures have their place as well. You need a certain baseline to define a product, and it can be measured.

More reviews should show freq response, THD, SNR, IMD and the like.

Stereomojo look honest and not noobish..prolly one of the best reviews I've read about headphones: http://www.stereomojo.com/GoldringDr150headphonesreview.htm

he talk about SS depth, PRaT...we got a winner here!

Stereophile look like shills that will praise your product like it's the eigth world wonder and give you the cover if you pay enough...even if it completely goes against everything they believe, and 6moons seem to speak in some weird audiophool lyrical language that doesn't make much sense to me.

I never heard of stereomojo, but I just had a look from your link. And unfortunately I don't find them any different from 6moons. Perhaps the latter uses more flowery prose, but the content, or lack thereof is identical. Utterly subjective, no measurements...and cables. I won't say anymore that this, but in my mind, any publication that takes cable reviews seriously (power cables!) has absolutely no credibility whatsoever.

Edit: But if someone knows of an audio publication, be it print or online, that actually measures equipment and doesn't shun DBTs in its reviews...well, I'll very much appreciate if you'd let me know about it.

Edit 2: Buying headphones shouldn't be all that different than buying a car. Things like comfort, amenities, stickiness of the clutch, and the like are important subjective factors. But any good self respecting review will mention objective ones like HP, torque, turning circle, and so on. Good headphone reviews should do the same.

Stereophile - between those tree evils that is...

I'll have to have a look at Stereomojo. The other two seem bought and sold to me, especially Stereophile—and I say this as a subscriber.

Never heard of stereomojo. 6moons well their reviews seem to share the structure of their web page... I don´t understand much of their reviews. They just seem to word crap like crazy to make their reviews look sophisticated or something.

first and foremost i only trust my ears with a review, but i use the listed mag's/sites to see whats out and whats hot on the market, so to me Stereophile is always the big boy of the group and its comes in a real magazine form which has its place above the other's. i always thought every one of the listed were non biased and biased in their own ways and since every reviewer has a "buy at reduced price" from most manufactures option for the gear they review i always taken their words with a grain of salt in terms of over all quality and conclusion..again i use the review sites just to see what hot and whats new. how many times have you read a bad review in one of these mags/sites? the reason why you dont cause if the reviewer finds something wrong the manufacture has time to repair and no mention of it will be made (depending on the reviewer), plus the reviewer does not really want to piss off the manufacture so if the product is that bad then usually the review itself is never posted or printed..again all of them are  non biased and biased in their own ways.

The Audio Critic used to be a decent exemplar of the approach you are speaking about...but properly controlled DBTs in hifi mags are extremely rare !

6moons is a joke, they give positive reviews to mpingo discs and briliant pebbles. stereophile at least has measurements. never heard of stereo review.

I would agree the only place to really judge is with your own ears but it is very difficult to audition equipment, especially when you're not in a major market.  The magazine reviews are just their opinion.  However, I think it needs to be much clearer the length the reviewer is allowed to keep the sample and if they can buy it, I really think they should have to disclose the discount.  If the reviewer can't review it within 3 to 4 months, they should not have accepted delivery in the first place and it should be sent back promptly when the review is completed.
