Never ceases to amaze me with the lengths men go to impress the ladies....and the ladies that always get impressed.  The fact that the whole system is in place so we can evolve to the pinnacle of evolution to impress the ladies - absolutely blows my mind away!!!  To end up being gored through the mouth by a piece of sirloin for entertainment purposes...what went wrong?

I've been in Bercellona a couple of times, but never seen a bullfight. My understanding is that bullfighting is nothing like what it used to be. the glory, the spirit, the respect it had is long gone. in the past bullfighters had the greater respect (perhaps the same way racing car driver are today, if not more so). to be a bullfighter you really needed to be a brave soul, it was very dangerous, the bulls were bigger, meaner, the horns sharper, one slip and you're dead, no messing about. I don't know much about the cultural aspect of it though.

today is a pitiful tourist attraction, a stinking money making business. the bulls are smaller, perhaps even half drugged, the horns trimmed. nobody wants to get killed, they've families, they're there for the pay check. there's no glory, respect - it's a sham, a circus, and the bullfighter are clowns. I hate to say it, but that's my understanding. I'm not Spanish, perhaps there's a Spanish h'fier who can comment more on it. I know Spanish people are opposed to it has much as anybody else.

Oh jeez.

I wish him a painful and miserable recovery.  At least he has that option.  No such luck for the bull, but at least he gave this loser something to remember him by before being brought down.

It's too bad the bull did not lower his head just a bit more. Then it would have been true justice.

mrarroyo:  torturing a bull in an arena is no different than torturing a dog in an alley (or whatever).  To do such acts to an animal is a true demonstration of coldheartedness, and yes, I would gladly wish him death to his face - just like I would wish death to a person's face who tortures dogs.  I value the sanctity of innocent life more than I value etiquette and "compassion".
