The Oppo players may be the best value in the high end today. They are all built like a tank and use high quality part throughout and play every disc format . I have two of them now and for sacd they are excellent and play DSD not down-sampled. If the recording was done pure DSD, which many classical albums are recorded, its a treat. The Telarcs are really great disc

Typical Saber ES9018 sound. Kind of expensive just for the SACD experience. I guess it would depend on how many SACD's you have.

I guess your opinion is different from every high end reviewer which has reviewed the oppo products and every one of us believe that the Oppo is purely high end and out performs many products that are  two or three times the price. The Saber dac chips are considered one of the best in the high end industry today,  There are over 20000 sacd on the market and for classical music and jazz enthusiast  there is no better solution thane well recorded SACD or Vinyl.

The Oppo players in my ipinion are one of the very best values in the high end today.

Is the typical Saber sound bad or something?  Not in my experience.  I've heard a few Saber based DACs and all sound different.  All had different output stages implemented.

There is much more to a DAC than the chipset. That said, the Sabre in the W4S DAC-2 is stupendously good.

I don't know whats going on with inserting images, oh well...

Frank, I'm just telling you what I hear. I would never consider using the Oppo for playing CD's, the differences are very noticeable. I only use my player for DVD/Bluray concerts and SACD's. I don't consider it high end compared to my other equipment. I do think it is great value for the price though.

In 36 years of toying with owning tube amplifiers . The best tube amplifiers are the old world designs. I like the build on the Woo amps much better than the build on the EC amps. If you want the 2A3 then thats what you should go for.  I know what I am hearing with this WA5 and its that good. Sorry but I think you may be suffering from high end withdrawal.  wink_face.gif

If the. For a guy who owns neither you sure have strong opinions about gear you never owned or heard and declaring one product better than the other with out hearing either makes your opinion a non factor here.L3000.gif  OH yeah I forgot you buying the lCD3 which you were trashing a few week agoconfused_face_2.gif

Keep in mind that competent is a compliment in headphone amps.  Lots of high priced gear is experimental at best, just broken at worst.  But it doesn't change that a high freq AC heater is superior to a DC heater, as good as the one in the Woo is.  And yes, EC case and build quality is functional at best.

Buy something again that I have problems with?  Hells ya!  Took three rigs to enjoy the HD800.  Will the LCD-3 be worth keeping on my rig now?  Find out this weekend.

Sbiggrin.giftill don't change the fact you owned or heard either and you commenting on products you never heardksc75smile.gif.  To say one is better than the other without knowing either product or even heard them makes me wonder how you can comment about the product. Besides your opinion is like the wind and depends on which way it is blowing that L3000.gifday, if you have not heard the system I am referring to, how can you make a determination on how this combo sounds, or better yet offer an opinion. Just sayingtongue_smile.gif

Interesting comment Frank. Can you tell me what $4500 DAC you had in your system when comparing the BDP-95/105? You did say the Oppo out performs products 2 to 3 times it's price normal_smile%20.gif

The comment was addressed to Solude and not you, read where it was posted and who name was on it. I have heard the 110.000 DCS system for one and  the Veloce 6K dac very recently. But you quoting quoting my  comment addressed to another person?  Unless your Solude in disguise.   Cant see why you quoting my comments to Solude in your post which had nothing to do with your comments on the Oppo.  The comments you quoted were on the WA5 and EC 2A3 amps, which have absolutely nothing to do with you or your post.

But I have heard extensively the other dacs which I mentioned above and why you getting involved with a post on amplifiers is a little curious to me when you comment was on the Oppo. If I would addressed the quote to you you would have an argument but you starting a flame war over someone else post make me wonder your agenda.

I also heard it side by side to the Veloce and thought it held up well and my brother has the DCS system and the Oppo's and they hold up extremly well to that syte,. is it better than the DCS" No Is it bette rthan the  Veloce . I think it performed as well as the Veloce and can do more it plays disc.

Actually, I wasn't expecting a reply. Just pointing out the people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Sorry Frank, your obviously ticked. My comment had nothing to do with the Oppo (I've already said it's good value for the money). My comment was you telling someone not to give advise, if they didn't hear it first. So I was curious to know what product you heard that the Oppo out performed 2 to 3x. Now you've piqued my interest in the Veloce. Which model did you say it was?
