I'm sure others are more qualified to answer that than me. I was only asking because I use the TP60 for my HE-6 but lots of peeps seem to rave about the Mini X and I wondered if I was missing out?

I think the Mini-X is slightly better and sounds slightly different.

The Emotiva is a little more "musical". I think the sound compliments the HE-6 very well. I don't think going from the TP60 to the Emotiva would be a big 'upgrade' though.

Thank you, understood. The features of the Mini-X seem nicer than the TP60 but I think you are probably right. I'm quite surprised how good the TP60 sounds considering it's price.

Using the mini-x/he-6 for a month and really loving the combo. smily_headphones1.gif

I don't see a reason to upgrade unless I move the mini to my speaker setup.

 

Great performance for the price.

General question to pose you all of you HE-6 owners. What mods have you actually stuck with over time? I'm particularly interested in the damping over the driver to tame down sibilance a bit.

I've been using some J$ Beyer pads and a simple piece of white craft felt in front of the driver. The pads brought up the bass and a tiny bit of overall treble as well. The felt takes some of the ringing out.

I use the Denon Stock leather pads - fits like a glove and way more comfy.  I notice no sibilance at all.  Yesterday listeing to Jazz at the PawnShop, I forgot they was on.
