Geez that Stratos is huge!  I hadn't realized now big the clone was (glad I didn't buy it!) but that Stratos....  I can only imagine what kind of heat it throws, too!

i can tell you it throws off almost nothing compared to my F1...this thing is seriously the hottest gear ive ever seen. And i got to hear a Odyssey Khartago for quite a while the other day, another head-fier nearby has one, and at least the khartago didnt really get warm at all

Thanks, sphinxvc. If you lived in Cali, you would need a new rack! ksc75smile.gif

I used to think that clone you had was big. That new amp you get makes it look tiny in comparison :p Has your invicta arrived yet? I would be very interested in how that along with your stratos amp sounds on something like my HE6 :)

Also your first pic confused you me for a second. I saw a K1000, HD800 and the zodiac amp which I remember you having sold them all until I saw it was a before and after pic :p Are you going to run any headphones or have you completely went off to speakers?

Also I recently picked up a Nuforce HDP. It isn't great by any means but it does a surprisingly good job on the HE6 if one was in a pinch. It doesn't hold a candle to my D1 dac and Mjolnir but not as bad as I expected. Also I was planning on picking up a cheap dac and have it pair the mini X amp and the HE6 to see how far my money can go but the HDP will do. I have my AD2k on loan but I think it would be a good pairing.

Oh this damned hobby.......

From AN site http://www.audionotekits.com/he6headamp.html

We custom designed a TRIPLE C-Core output transformer matched to the 50 ohm impedance requirement of the HE-6 and many other high end headphones.
It will work well driving any headphones up to 600 ohms. Most headphone amplifiers on the market are solid state, and OTL or IE core. We have met the HE-6 challenge head-on with a pure EL84 tube design in pure CLASS A mode delivering 9 Watts of warm clean power through a triple C-core transformer for extended range and ultimate detail and finesse!

I'm getting very nervous. May be time to liquidate my HT rig.

Now that setup is just gorgeous.

Invicta hasn't arrived yet.  Actually, it did arrive last week, but with a blown fuse.  Sent it to Canada for inspection and long story short, it's now on it's way back in working condition.  Should be here on Friday.

I've not completely gone off headphones.  I have a Stax SRM-212 & SR-003 here for a few weeks courtesy of another member.  And I should be getting a pair of Paradox before the year is out.  I have heard the HDP has a great DAC so great choice.

Very cool!  There was a head-fi member who was having a custom tube amp created for the HE-6, gurus I think, wonder what happened with that.

Wait till you hear it with a linear regulated power supply.  It's loads better then.  Even with the stock PSU it beats my old Headroom Micro Stack, at a much smaller price.  The RCA outputs are better than the headphone out, while with the stock PSU the headphone out was slightly aggressive and sounded identical to the older RSA Protector balanced amp.  With the upgraded power supply it moves closer to a DACmini in performance.

Yeah that looks pretty awesome, if you get one HC, id love to compare biggrin.gif i still want to hear them on an Atma-Sphere amp though, im convinced that would be the top of the food chain. OTL goodness

The S-30 Mk. III .1 is only 30wpc into 8 ohms  - Would this be enough?

The link worked last night, their site seems to be down.

HC, as cool as that kit looks, at $2.5K, I'm not sure you should take the plunge.

It moves above the sweet spot for HE-6 amplification, as far as price/performance goes.

They are also making a version with IE core transformers for $1395.
