Some have noted that it paled next to some speaker amps with HE-6 (I'll be able to verify this on my own soon), but generally the MJ is a low-powered speaker amp that's sold to headphone users and has no binding posts biggrin.gif  Lower powered or not, it's still in the top few percent of high powered headphone amps, coming in just under EF6.

Gets me thinking.... A schiit speaker amp?

Hmm, initial impressions with the First Watt F1 are very good. And the thing is that this thing is only putting out somewhere around 5 watts RMS max into the 50 ohm load, which is about the same as the mjolnir. The difference though is that the mjolnir only has 200mAs of biasing current (hahaha this is when we know we've gone nuts...only 200mAs biasing current), the F1 has 2 Amps of biasing current biggrin.gif

You got the 6s on it?  Now we need to find someone with a Mjolnir so we can compare.

Not to get too caught up in the numbers, but you sure about that?

Its actually almost 4 watts exactly, looking at the first watt website, it can put out a max of +/- 20 volts, which ill assume is its peak voltage, not RMS. so the RMS voltage is 14.14 volts, which into the 50 ohm load of the HE-6s is .2828 amps. power is volts times amps, or 14.14 x .2828 or 3.998792 watts RMS.

Who in the hell is Happy Camper? Man, we're getting tired of hearing about that guy. This speaker amp Schiit is getting old.

These things like current more than voltage and if that current is pure class A the better.
SE dynahi is 8 watts per channel into 50 ohms pure class A. Sounds just great for
Something simple.

SS dynahi sounds even better and is 36 watts pure class A into 50 ohms.
Krell FPB 600 sees too high an impedance and won't power up past about
18 watts of pure class A power. Also sounds great but is slightly noisy.

Hey prep. I'm wondering how much more your current monoblocks output into 50ohms (HE6). Any ideas?

Wow, never realised there was that much difference - is the F1 all class-A?

I don't know Shar,  They're 200wpc into 8 ohms.  Not pure Class a though.  Only Class A for the first 2 watts.  Then goes to Class AB.

Does your Dynahi have 1 amp board or 2 amp boards?

What's the SS Dynahi again - the one with the on board heat sinks?  Is it a balanced version or SE?

It does sound really good though. Current is the potion that stirs the blood and that F1 just proved it. 5w but massive current. It's much more than is needed but what's a little heat when the music is sounding so good. I guess that's why the higher wattage amps sound so good. Its the current offered that drives the 6s so well.

You heard it HC? How does it compare to your guy's previous gear? This is interesting about the current.
