That said I did hear a little distortion in the lows and highs when I first got my HE6's. After about 80 hours on my HE6s I found the distortion was coming from my Realiser when I went below a gain of -15 but I have corrected that with the addition of my ADG19 DSPv5 and not loosing any AQ. Now I can use my Realiser at gain of 0 with NP, there by lowering the volume level of my Woo. I should add that the distortion was not there with music but only with movies.

Anyway I now only use my HE6's.

I emailed Jack to tell him about my experinece with the WA5-LE and the HE-6 reagrding the difference in sound between the high impedance and low impedance outputs. Here is his reply:

"There is no problem at all using the hi-z output. I am having the same problem here. This is puzzling us as we cannot get the reason for it. I will have to talk to Fang at Head-Direct to see what makes this phone different.

Jack"

At least I can  run the HE-6 out of the high impedance output safely where they sound magnificent.

I am seeing this more and more with our MOT's and it is frustrating me. I am noticing that this is a pattern of younger purchasers. We did not have this problem 4 years ago when we had a tenured member population. What's going on? It's very difficult to mod a group of a younger demographic population. Wait and i will come. Purchasing and and maturity go hand in hand.

I totally disagree with you. Age does not matter (I am 51 years old). If I am buying something on-line and sending immediate payment that merchant already has my money (it is not like when you order and your card is not charged until the item is shipped) so common commercial courtesy from the merchant should be to acknowledge the purchase and provide estimated shipping or delivery date. I understand it could take 24 to 48 hours to process the information and send you the acknowledgment but more than that I think it is a point in the customer service area that should be improved.

Imo it does matter a bit. The older you are the more transactions you have made in your lifetime and the more experience and patience you have with purchases. I wouldn't worry about companies such as head direct. They DO care about the customer but atm they seem to have their hands full with all the orders. I think a public forum is the last place where you would moan and complain (no offence to you Kremer).

@Mr/Ms Kramer

You have sent an email now you have to be patient for the reply. I doubt Ms. T views the mail and moves to the next one without repliying or even deleting it. A lot of people have sent an email before you so they have to be served first if you know what I mean.

I have waited for my HM602 player for two months. I have not sent a single email inquiry. I have not made any post anywhere on the forum either. Was not worried for a second as I knew Head Direct is a fair company and as soon as my order is ready I will get a notification and my item will get shipped. And it was so.

My opinion of course. Hopefully no hard feelings guys. smile_phones.gif

It has been posted before. There are comments on it way back, but it's going to be a pain and look through previous posts.

OK Thanks.

Hi guys, my first post on this thread.  I haven't gone through this whole thread, just way too much to read.

Just got my HE6 two days ago but due to a family emergency I haven't had time to enjoy it.  It has been burning on my Hafler 9180.  Source was ipod, laptop, now portable CDP with toslink to Mini-i to Hafler.  I just have one question.  I can max out the volume without the HE6 getting crazy loud.  Is that normal?  The Hafler puts out 100wpc.

A quick comment on the sound.

OMG!!

Is there adjustable gain somewhere ahead of the Hafler?  Sounds like something is turned down too low.  The HE6 is inefficient for sure, but 100wpc should be crazy loud.

Nope.  Everything is maxed out.   Just the Mini-i controlling the volume.  The Hafler has trims but they are always on max.

I can't turn my volume knob on my 100 w.p.c. Adcom 545II past 11:00, and that's way too loud.

However, a pcdp and a laptop might only have an output of less than a volt, and an average full size CDP can output anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 volts and ~4 volts balanced output. Your sources output plays a big role when an amplifier is taking a pre-amp signal and amplifying it.

That's all good and I am glad you got your order.  After I ordered a HE-6, I did not get any reply, receipt, or any acknowledgement of my order.  I waited a week and still heard nothing.  I finally called and was glad I did - They had completely lost my order.  They had no clue who I was, no order.  They finally found it after going through their paypal history.  And I am not trying to complain or make anyone look bad, but it may be wise to make contact if you don't get any acknowledgement of your order.

The gain switches are all the way clockwise? Is your HE-6 connected to the Hafler by banana plugs?

My pcdp is connected to the DAC via optical. The Mini-i DAC is controlling the volume.

Your mini-i has a 2v output and the hafler's input sensitivity is only 1.4v so that is not the problem. Your mini-i also has a working mode, what is it set to?

All clockwise.  Connected to 4 pin XLR to speaker binding post.
