There are a bunch of links in the OP, I think it has been mentioned before but I wanted to make sure.
Edit: I have added a link to the list daveDerek did as well.
Thanks for updating the OP. dave's post is quite helpful as well!

When does Head-Direct expect to have the speaker-tap sets ready to buy? I thought mid-December was mentioned.

msnd with head direct yesterday said Q1 2011. But HE-6 owners perhaps get them earlier?
I think a lot of us are getting the speaker jack adapters elsewhere.
I see the HE-6 is in second place in your ordered headphone list Skylab. Does this mean you prefer the LCD-2 now?
Nope. Still undecided which I prefer. I may never decide. They're that close in overall performance, IMO, which is not to say they sound identical, just that they are very similar in terms of the level of sound quality they offer.
Dear skylab,
How's about the SR71 B driving the HE6, can it drive the HE6 effectively like the speaker tab adapter does?
How can you make the balanced input and balanced output connections? do you recommend any cable for that and
what is the approximate cost? Will moon audio or apuresound do this?
Do you have any portable balanced DAC to do ? I only know the ibass boomslang but it has different pins , not the mini 4pin XLR.
I also have LCD2 recable with silver clad Zeus cu29 cable which end in standard 4 pin XLR, does anybody do the 1-3 ft adapter from standard 4pin XLR to mini 4pin XLR?
I have just preordered the SR71B and would like to know that. I have one HE5 Twag balanced cable terminated
to mini4pin XLR, I think that can be used from the amplifier output to HE6, however the portable input source is quite a headache.
The SR-71B drives the HE-6 remarkably well. I have not tried the HE-6 from speaker taps yet - I have a cable coming for that later this week, I hope.
There are lots of cable options for the SR-71B but I have no idea of the price, please read in the SR-71B thread for that. My review loaner came with some nice cables from Moon Audio.
I do not have a portable balanced DAC. I am using the home D100 DAC from Yulong as a balanced source for my SR-71B testing.
Will the Moon Audio K1000 extension cables work with the HE-6? Which would be better, the Blue or the Black Dragon? I plan on using these with my Harmon Kardon HK3390 stereo receiver. Thanks!

Hi,
I'm a new member but a recent purchaser of HE-6 headphones so have been following this particular thread with great interest. I had a chance to listen to the SR-71B at Ray's table at the recent White Plains gathering. Based on what I heard, it will drive the HE-6's to any volume you can bear. On the cable front, I asked Ray about a good source for his Protector connector and he recommended Moon Audio. Just today I received the goodies from an order I placed with Drew last week, one XLR to speaker wire/banana plug cable for the HE-6 and an XLR to Protector connector for an SR-71B that I've also queued up for. Currently using an old YBA Integre to power the HE-6's using the new speaker wire connector and it's a definite improvement over the Nakamichi receiver headphone jack I was using previously out of desperation.
Dear Dasouth,
Thanks for your input which is very timely and useful .
Does Drew do the 2 X 3 pin XLR connector to mini 4 pin XLR input of the SR71B using the blue dragon and how much will it cost? what is the length?
Does he also do a short adapter cable from 4pin XLR standard to mini 4 pin XLR?
Dear skylab, I have read the comment on the SR71B blog and you mentioned that you use the special short adapter cable from the
HE6 to the SR71B provided by Ray, will he provide that for us with the SR71B or do we need to request and then how much will it cost?
Any accessories that will come with the SR71B including the mini4pin XLR connector?
I have tried to email him but he does not answer back however I know he should have been busy during this time so this is much more than
understandable for him not to answer right now but I know he will respond soon.
Does anyone know how can we connect the boomslang to the SR 71B for portable use?

Unfortunately I do not know the answer to these questions.
I'm deducting 10 points.
Yes. Personally, I wouldn't shell out for the higher-quality copper of the Black Dragon unless I was planning on getting a matching Black Dragon balanced HE-6 cable at some point. And if you're going to do that, you may want to consider just getting an HE-6 cable without the cumbersome XLR connector; see if you can get a straight HE-6 speaker tap cable from them instead as you will already have balanced and SE covered with the stock cable.
Dear Skylab,
One more question if you don't mind, If i can not find a good portable balanced input source , can I just use the balanced out of the
SR71B to drive the HE6 effectively , is there any difference is the sound quality without the balanced input?
