Yup, just heatshrink through the hole. I might go back to do more work on the strain relief as there's a bit of slippage. The fuzzor is only applied to the ear side to absorb reflections which bounce off the pads, your ears, the side of your head, etc; theoretically there shouldn't be a benefit from doing it on the grill side since the sound should exit cleanly.

these are the Audez'e vegan pads right? Just checking! Did you try the Jergpad mod with the 6?

Yup, Audeze Vegan/microsuede pads.

Have not tried the Jerg pads, but I remember Jerg stating the Jerg pads don't affect the HE-6 like HE-500.

How about this.

Won't they look similar to this. Just put some cable sleeves.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), default quality

Where do I get that?

Doing some more listening and I found something I dislike after hardwiring. Music is slightly warmer and noticeably thicker. It's gone too far over the edge for me and I want to blame it on the cable. I'll be searching for a pure silver cable. Man, I really wanted to save money, but now I have no choice!

That's where I'm at. The silver cable is my route and I'm having an IC cable I'm going to purchase (same wire, different piece) lengthened prepped with banana plugs on one end and tinned for the hardwire. Just waiting for a lottery win. biggrin.gif

PS. For those who use a speaker amp with the 6s care to chime in on the thread in the science forum. I tried but the science templars are hard at work convincing us we're biased nuts.

With my aftermarket cable selection and the HE-6, I was unsure about Copper cables and Silver cables. So, I went down the middle of the road with Silver coated Copper.

That is my plan for hard wiring. I am going to get rid of the Silver Dragon I have.

Yeah - I'm finding the FocusPads may have more air.

From here http://www.ereplacementparts.com/cord-strain-relief-p-130752.html but don't know what the size is.

For silver, will you be using stranded or solid core? For solid core use a very thin gauge, 30awg, so that is four 30awg braided. Homegrown audio has them.

You can also save by using a hybrid cable, the signal carrying wire is silver but the ground wire is copper.

good luck on the cables.  the science forum seems to be a place where no experience is a virtue, it is not worth the frustration
