I enjoy feisty now and again. Sometimes, neither my date or HE-6 disappoints in being feisty - handling whatever is thrown at them. :normal_smile : It really has turned out to be one of the best all around headphones I've had inside the listening room.

After months of reading posts on the debate of the HE-6 being bright, thin, etc. or not;-    my ears detect none of those issues.  This headphone is so so smooth and full sounding.  Not bright in the least bit.   This may be the most neutral headphone I have heard to date.  It has all the smoothness of the Audeze phones without the muddiness.  I am very impressed.

I'm glad to hear that you finally were able to get a hard wired HE6. After hearing it driven by the M9, now you know why I would not sell you my HE6. wink_face.gif I'm not willing to go even a few days without my baby, not even for a profit. I've been listening to my pair for 5 hours straight tonight and I can't get over how fantastic they sound.

I love right clicking his new avatars, getting the image link and searching for it in Google to find the person. Google image searches for similar images can be spookily powerful. Adrianne Ho this time...

Is it possible to DIY the hardwiring the HE6? Are the difference worth the risk of screwing up the process?
Thanks guys

If others can do it, you can too. But be warned. the solder point on the panels are very small and recessed under the panel. It intimidates me and I'm a field tech. I've heard some solder to the existing wire while others have landed it directly to the panel.

Once while I was doing the felt mod I saw and thought that the thin diapraghm being sandwiched by 2 magnets.
I was afraid if I disassembled them I couldn't get the right tension while I assembled them back.
And are the sonic difference worth the trouble doing the hardwiring sir?

I was wondering if anyone ever tried the HE-6 with a silver cable.   To my ears- it is not open and transparent enough with the copper hardwire.   I can't believe all the talk about thin and bright - and now I finally test it and it is to my ears to full.

By the way- after one day of use I must say I do not agree with the electrostat comparisons.   I owned A BHSE ad SR-009 and SR-007 for years.  Totally different sound.  The HE-6 is so full and meaty- with less transparency and detail.

Better or worse is a question of taste.  But similar- NO WAY.   The HE-6 sound like a less muddied and quicker LCD-3, with better overall balance-  but still more like a LCD-3 by far than an SR-007 or SR-009.

No complaints--- just wondering if anyone ever tried a silver cable.  Silver really opens up the LCD-3.

I have moon audio silver dragon v3 on my he-6 and he-500 and with the mods they are amazing. silver cable for me was a good upgrade that complimented the mods very well. unfortunately with the mods and my silver cable, it has become even more apparent that my ef-6 is inadequate for my he-6. I need a good speaker amps.

i have a silver-plated copper cable -- the norne reign 24, as do several others i think.  it is more of everything, including detail, than the stock cable, but i could not say for sure if that is the silver.

I too, have chosen to strike right down the middle and employ a Silver plated Copper cable. My HE-6 is dolled-up with the Wireworld Silver Eclipse 7 headphone cable (4x19awg).
