Thanks Jerg,

I am not sure where to get the felt from, what thickness and quality is preferred, is this is good enough ?

You get the felt from Michael's Arts & Crafts stores. There should be some in your city. And much cheaper than that Amazon stuff too (I got em for like $2 per big sheet).

22 gauge is 0.0299 inch thick which is less than 1/32 inch (http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/units/scales/sheetmetal.html).

Remove the black plastic ring from the HE-6 pads and install them in the same way (under the flap) in the Audeze pads. You can just leave them like that (I did) or use the dual sided tape ring that should have come with the Audeze pads to stick the black rings to them.

After that just install the pads the same way as the original HE-6 pads are installed.

Got it, thank you guys.

I personally would not even bother with the original Hifiman ring. Just take the flap of the Vegan pads directly to the side of the cups.

Depends if you want to be able to remove them easily or not eg for pad rolling or washing.  When I did my mod I attached the Audeze plastic rings on top of the Hifiman plastic rings, pulled the pads over and had a removable solution, but the direct tape method is probably easier and maybe has different seal with the driver.

BTW did you end up getting vegan or leather pads.  Not sure if anyone answered your question but the two have quite different sound, IMO the leather pads sound a bit over-damped, more restrained and a little bass shy, so maybe need other mods to sound good.  It's cool that Audeze now sell grey vegan pads.

It's hard to get the position right if taping directly to the cup so my tip is to tape the lip of the pads first then dab the tape on a t-shirt to make it slightly less sticky. It will still be plenty sticky, but will be much easier to remove if you positioned it wrong the first time, yet more than strong enough to hold the pads to the cups.

Good day and  TGIF

been reading about HE6 needing power but can you feed it tooimuch power?

how do I know if I need a resistor with a speaker amp?

looking at AMR AM 777

specs:

thanks in advance

Presuming that amp is solid state you will not need resistors. Definitely not too much power there. I've happily run it off the speaker taps of a Luxman amp with 110W per channel without resistors, many here have used it with even more powerful amps.

Ok thanks for your quick respond
Wanted to be sure.

You plan on matching the AMR DAC with the amp?  That will be a really awesome rig.
