Who cares as long as it sounds good to your ears. My advice, just get the HE6 and listen to it driven by the M9 and whatever source you have. If your current source is good, you'll be amazed at how good your system will sound. Just my 2 cents.

You are right.   I have not ever heard the HE-6, and I have no plans to by a special amplifier for it.  I like my M9.   I am just asking others if they think my idea of using a Dac with the capeability to increase the output voltage (of which there are several on the market) would help things get even a bit better.

I say concentrate on the sound / quality off the DAC.  Whatever DAC you pick, paired with the M9 will be fine.

I see now why you guys like speaker amps. I am demoing the HE-6's on my Auralic Vega abd Taurus MK.II. Too soon to tell but they might be my favorite headphone. However the bass is kinda lacking but I think the Taurus doesn't have the power. I wish I had the space for a Pass XA30.8 but that cannot happen...

Nice knife.

It's a Matagi Nagasa (Japanese hunting knife), used by a mountain tribe as their main weapon.  One piece of hand forged steel, single edge grind, hollow handle so you can pop it over a stick, makes a very effective spear.  All business, little aesthetics. And it's so sharp I could shave with it.  Couldn't find this in Japan, btw...purchased form a very nice Japanese gent who lives in Hawaii.

Then worthy of the shot. Two items with expert critique and refined development to it's current evolution. I tip my cap sir.

Does it make a difference what Audeze pads I put on my HE-6?
