Will report back the improvements I hear over WA22 when I try them from my speaker amps.

Either TS5998 or TS7236...so the amp was outputing it's max power (1.5W with those tubes). The source was the W4S DAC-2 and the digital preamp was turned all the way up. Seriously, don't even bother with the HE-6s and the WA22.

I received my HE6 today. This is my second time around with them. I had Robert at Aphroditecu29 hardwire it with the Zeus 22 OCC copper cable with a 4 pin balanced Neutrik connector on the amp end. I also bought the micro suede Audeze pads to replace the stock pads for better comfort. I've been listening to my digital source tonight, a Bryston BDP-2 digital music player connected to my Bricasti M1 DAC. This DAC's balanced output feeds my Audio GD Master 9 headphone amp. I'm listening to the HE6 through the balanced output of the M9.

My HE6/M9 sounds amazingly fantastic! It sounds way way better than when I had it the first time around with the RSA Darkstar. Not even close. The bass definition is very clear and the extension is incredible. Midrange tone is the most natural that I've heard with unheard of clarity. Highs are well extended and smooth and grainless.

I tested the M9 out with some dynamic orchestra music listening to the RCA Living Stereo version of Richard Strauss' Also sprach Zarathustra conducted by Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Wow it passed with flying colors. Very dynamic with no feeling of compression or strain and certainly no clipping. Next up, I listened to Keb Mo's debut album. I've listened to this album a hundred times in the past but I never heard his guitar sound this good. String tone was sweet and resonant. The clarity of his vocals through the HE6 were also the best I've ever heard. I think the HE6 is going to be getting a lot of head time at the expense of my other headphones. The Audeze micro suede pads are very comfortable and I think they contribute positively to the SQ. Also the Zeus 22 hard wired cable is a great match for the HE6. Robert at Aphroditecu29.com does a really nice job of hard wiring the cable. I'm extremely satisfied with my new HE6. Back to my music.

How does the HE6 compare to the SR-009 that you have? :)

Cheers to Robert/AphroditeCu29

Mind you that I've only been listening to my HE6/M9 for 4-5 hours so...I don't think I can give you a detailed and conclusive answer. I think the SR009 has a more airy sound. I'm really smitten by the tonality of my HE6. I don't want to jump to any conclusions yet...only time will tell. I sold my first HE6 but my new one is definitely a keeper.

M9 is still an Headphone amp, does it has sufficient output watts to drive HE-6 ?

The M9 does a lot of things really well with the HE-6 but for me it wasn't a keeper. Why? 1) With some low recordings I had to max out the volume. 2) I was never convinced I was listening to real music, just nice sounding gear. In other words, it didn't take me there.

Your source must have a very low output or you were not using the M9 balanced. I'm not even close to maximum volume on the low output setting fully balanced from the DAC to the HE6.

The M9 output is rated at 9 w/ch into 40 ohms in full class A power that would be the same as a speaker amp rated for 48 w/ch at 8 ohms. I'm listening at very high volume with my M9's volume in the upper 60's to low 70's out of 99 on the low output setting using the balanced output. My ears would give out before the M9 would max out.

In balance mode it would blow his ears off lol. I had the M8 and in balance I did have to turn it up to max , but rarely . As for sound it is a warm sound , fast but the earth steals a little of the sparkle in details . But it is a great amp for the he6 and all headphones. It's just not a detail animal type amp.
