HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone - Page 815

If you've got some DIY ability, I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Eddie Current Monolith is similar to the Dark Star. But all you get are the boards and BOM, so you'll have to build it from the ground up.

Meanwhile Stry fed 12.5W into his he6 while listening to it?! ūüėßūüėģ

I've been through this before :deadhorse:

It's not a sine wave we're listening to here. Just hook up your HE-6 to an amp with a watt meter and turn the volume up to your loudest level with some dynamic music and watch it hit 9-10w peaks.

Brunk is correct the man has a scope the size of my plasma. Lol. Anyway he is correct and then beyond that is transient peaks the are even higher. If you take the woo wa5 and use it SE it's not enough but in BAL it's great. .

 And therein the problem lies...I know my limitations, if I set my mind to it and have the documentation it's comparatively easy for me to grasp the theoretical side of stuff and expand upon that.  But I'm motorically challenged let's say (or in short:  I've got 2 left hands and am clumsy as hell).  So even for simple stuff I usually ask someone else to actually do/build/repair stuff, found out a long time ago that it's the wiser (and, factoring in time spent on projects in stead of generating cash sitting behind my desk or in meeting rooms, effort and a the cost of placating my wife who gets to enjoy my mood when I can't get something right) considerably cheaper course of action to hire the services of specialists.

Speaking of "Meters" I dropped by The Shack with HiFiMANs and cables in tow - Dude wouldn't test 'em!

I have a multi-meter buried deep inside storage, so I simply broke down and bought one while inside the store. Still cafeside and runnin' errands but I'm finally gonna test my cans for resistance. I've got about 13ft of Wireworld goodness (4x19awg).

OUT F'ing STANDING!

Ladies and gentlemen, with one more stop, I have reached my HP rig destination. It's been 8 years on this quest but I've re-calibrated my references, learned how to listen and found satisfaction. When I sit up all night, I'm engaged, immersed and enchanted.

That's explain a lot. It looks like you've your facts the wrong way around. Music is not series of individual pulses but sine waves ARE the building blocks of music. That's thanks to this remarkable fact that we can now enjoy the digital revolution. well, some of us do. ;)

I think you know what I meant just fine and well. No need to go out of context. Just go try it yourself like others have and see what your results are.

I'm alone... waiting in the dark. Nice to see brunk join the ranks. Got all my gears moved in to place but have chosen not wire 'em up just yet. The new listening room sits dark while I ponder the next move.

Oh no, not the dark quietness!  If there's any advice/ideas you may need, feel free to send me a PM SO :)

The ONLY advice I need is  money... and how to get some more!

On the multi-meter front, when I got home last night, I ripped it open like a gift box on holiday! And the thought of "Batts" never ever crossed my mind. All dressed up and no where to go.
