I agree. But I did read the stuff you have listed and it appears you have good stuff and better than good stuff.

How do you compare the analog dac to the M7 ?

For get about amps , same amp and same headphone .

Ultimate resolution isn't there, but the M7's tone is extremely natural. I'm very pleased with what I'm hearing so far. Doesn't have the "magic" from the AMR, but for a more airy, expansive type sound the M7 seems to tick all the boxes. I just received it two days go so still need more time to form concrete opinions. Haven't even started a comparison against the MSB.

The M7 has qualities that make it a favorite. But for me it stops at headphones. And with speakers it starts to fall apart .

Also if you can get your hands on an offramp. To test it , it truly increases the sound separation . But still to laid back with speakers. . The analog DAC will spoil you and uncover what the M7 did not reveal in your recordings.

Quick question:  Has anyone heard the HE-6 with the RSA Darkstar and if yes, what was your impression?  I don't intend to purchase one but it came up in a talk with a fellow member.  I don't know the products but the fact that his site is long on explanations but short on technical detail and specs + that apparently his products use extreme gain makes me wary.  What also makes me wary is a quite positive review I read about it on Headphonia, nothing against those people but I find myself often in disagreement when they review stuff I also own.

Bold:

That's what I understand as well.  Not sure if it's an opamp or discrete design.

I think you are correct with the gain for volume control , I think I am wrong , as the most powerful amp I have in NYC is the aragons . And they are dead quiet. . Now the krell is a preamp and amp but has a very low his , noise floor. .

So I think you are correct . At least from the few amps I tried .

Wise choice! I still have HE-500 as a backup and it's fun to hack it up hehe. What amps do you have in your sights?

I bet that Master-2 is a space heater hehe. I can tell just by looking at the heatsinks.

Looking forward to you joining the club Punit :L3000:

To all you wise men: ANY headphone-specific amp (in existence today) to best serve Hifimans HE-6?
