Add a pre amp for more gain or for less gain?  The F3 is a SE amp correct?  That's odd, the pre amp in the AMR is "Killer"...

Can the Stratus keep up with the HE-6?

Imo the HE-6 sound pretty good with the Stratus. When I tried the Krell KAV- 400xi integrated it lacked the soundstaging and realism of the Stratus (I really wanted to like the Krell because of its simplicity). Same for the F3 with the Krell as a preamp, nice bass and treble but lifeless.

As for the heat, it's a killer in the summer (one of the reasons I sold my EC Zana Deux).

I have no doubt the preamp in the AMR is good, it just doesn't have enough gain with the F3. I tried it with my McCormack Deluxe Edition Power Drive DNA-2 which is an 82 Lbs 300 Watts into 8 Ohms beast, sounds great but again the heat and power consumption (seems over kill for hp listening).

Hey Al, this is Craig. I heard your Woo Wa5 with the HE-6 the last time we met but it was to short a time to give any useful feedback. Looking forward to our next mini-meet this week, I think you'll be impressed by the Stratus.

Anyone else experienced synergy of HE-6 and McCormack DNA 0.5? I have this combo and sound is totally fabulous: soundstaging, bass, etc. What about HE-6 upscaling with better sources (dacs)?

It's a loop which is useful for biamping. The amp is made for passive studio monitors.

Those little mini meets are a great thing.

It's been a couple of months since my last mini mini-meet. Gonna have to tip down the street in March and see someone.

The truth is we all should do them , it is important to hear others equipment. Craig is a good guy. And I am glad I have gotten to know him . He has stuff I have wanted to hear but could not. I wish there was more people willing to do it.

Back in the day, sending equipment, tubes, cables, etc. was offered a lot. There's still some of that going on. When I first joined, I would read about all these things and thought, out of my price range just to try. Then someone sent me some tubes to try, A power cord was won in a give away. Headphones, DACs, ICs, started getting lent. It's up to us to make the most of our contacts. That's what makes this place so cool. Like minded hobbyists sharing experiences.

+1 to that! I am trying to get that back into the community by offering my know-how, and lending out gear to various people :)

Lending light weight equipment is not a problem. But the amps weigh plenty and shipping can get expensive. I have gotten to know a couple of people here and do intend
To meet with them again. Craig is one. And hopefully we will meet up again tomorrow . The point of meeting other people is not just the equipment for me. If sharing opinions with them in person. Craig and I shared the same Mosel headphone and listen to them on different Amos at the same time using the same dac. And a,t dacs as well. And it a learning experience for me. I think there is some very bright people here and I would very much like to meet some of them. And have them here and explain to me as I can for them.
As much as I say I do not want to or have time to tinker I do. And having someone else besides me to here what have done is also very good.

Just ordered some F4 and Aleph J PCBs to test in the next few months.

Ordered some of these too, so it'll be "plug 'n play"

The Meir Classic 10W headphone amp is driving the hE6. I got the Classic yesterday form Jan to review with the Daccord.  I have spent some time listening today and just started with the HE6 now and its driving them, Not struggling but I need to run the large scale recordings to se how it does with the torture disc I have. This review will be interesting with the Meir amp.
