I have read very much about the he6 headphone that we all here have come to love. So my question is has anyone or group found out why a hi end headphone can have such a large variance in dc resistance and it not have a profound effect on the sound variance from one heahones to another. And now here is something that really is crazy. If the two sides do not match there will be a channel imbalance of epic proportions. . So my friends anyone with answers I am all EARS.

Al

Mine are 70 ohms, both sides. I think hifiman matches the impedance for each set to circumvent this issue.

So you are about 5 ohms lower. Then me and if he is correct he is about 10 ohms below me. I get the pair the drivers
And I am sure everyone does this. My hd800 drivers have a seriel number on them. So if and when they would need replacement you would get a matching driver. But it's not by imp it's actually tested . So I beg the question what does hifiman do when making these drivers to match. . I would imagine anything within the 1 ohm or less is fine , but why the drastic difference ? It's the only can or speaker I Am aware of like this.

It's a good question Al, but probably one that Hifiman isn't willing to disclose to protect trade secrets. My guess is that the gold thickness, and slight magnet variances are the variables at play here.

It would not be anything magnetic. But it is something about plating the drivers. And you are correct only hifiman would know. And I thinking should just shut up and enjoy the cans. LMAO.

Oh yeah, If it's anything like the F1J it's good in the winter and very bad in the summer.  The thing gets "HOT" but that's what you "SHOULD" get with a pure class A amp.  If they didn't get hot - I would be worried.

Add a pre amp for more gain or for less gain?  The F3 is a SE amp correct?  That's odd, the pre amp in the AMR is "Killer"...

Can the Stratus keep up with the HE-6?

I took a look into heat production of the F3 when I saw the case which is essentially a giant heatsink, appears to be the same as for the F1 which means a 200 W continuous draw of which >90% gets converted to heat...the price of running it it like it is.  It appears normal for the exterior temp. to reach 55 centigrade.  Anyway, I'll be running it in Europe, if I can take an office temperature of 34 centigrade with the AC full blast on here during the Delhi summer (46 in the shade outside) I guess I'll live.  What's the gain on the AMR?

Currently driving it with a Audion Silver Night 300B, great vocals. I'm currently just trying to listen without too much analysing. The HE6 was an impulse buy, as I have been very happy with my TH900, the first phone for me which I haven't felt the upgraditis kick in after a few weeks or months. I am also pleasantly surprised with how the Fostex HPA8 handles the HE6, didn't think it would be able at all. The HE6 with my Leben CS600 out of the headphone jack is very poor though, need to try the speaker taps.

Guess I should be ashamed to have no knowledge whatsoever of Lindell :) It looks interesting though. Do you have any experience with the amp?

VU meters

What's not to like? :D
