The only reason I'm not currently using my mobile; iPad, or any other gadgets for remote navi is because I sit right on top of my gears! :normal_smile :

Maybe I should deliberately :tongue_smile:create more space.

It's certainly worth experimenting! I'm a pajama listener kinda guy, so relaxing on a comfy couch/chair or bed is a priority for me :)

Pairing the WA5 (K1000 output) with my new HE6, the sound I'm getting is excellent and is rivalling the HD800. I still hear peaks of harshness though. Is this going to get better with burn-in or mods (I've read that there is impedence mismatch with the K1000 out?)

Picked it up for $388 shipped from Tequipment.net :D

It's the same hardware as their $800 unit, just software-crippled (hackable/upgradeable) so it has some serious value. It even has the capability to adjust at the 1mV/mA resolution level, that's just crazy

How big is this thing? Maybe I could have my PC PSU power my GPU and have that LPSU for motherboard and cpu. Now the next question would be how to run two PSUs...

Not sure why you guys are so obsessed with the mini fanless PCs from "boutique" shops. Those can be easily built yourself.

Actually, my rig is inaudible from 3 ft away and I live in a pretty quiet neighborhood. Even when gaming at heavy loads, it is still quieter than most sounds that manage to get through my windows.

8in wide, 9in with the rubber bumpers. 5in high, 6in with bumpers. Approx. 16in. in length. You could also stand it up on the bumpers to make better use of vertical space. It's really well designed. Quiet too.

EDIT: Tequipment.net has the freshest stock, along with a no-hassle 30-day return policy too.

I decided to go back.... w-a-y  b-a-c-k.... circa 2011 JUL.

I only moved the high-back sexy black leather chair backwards for photo purposes. But when I'm strapped-in, everything is at my fingertips! Two computers; Two amps; music server; two DACs; TT; printer.... everything! Once I pick up my iPad I have to find somewhere to set it down. Really, I couldn't be seated any closer. :normal_smile :

 I just realized how far I've come.

Whoa, talk about a "station"  Reminds me of the days doing some high-tech intel stuff in the Army at a battalion HQ in Iraq. Except I had a really stinky chair... literally, ugh :beerchug:

Appreciate your Service and :thumb: really great to have you back! During this phase of head-fi, I'd bang and read posts on head-fi with the pc on the left. Navigate the music server on the Mac in the middle. Jacked D7000's into the Woo; HE-5LE, HE-6 & LCD-2 out of the Pioneer. And spun vinyl a few times a month.

Thanks SO! Hehe, sounds like you had a grand time in 2011. That was a great year in terms of all the different flagships. It's going to happen again very soon i think :)

I just placed the KEFs inside my storage unit due to a smaller environment with the new rental. The HE-6 will have to make me proud-er.

I'm moving the wooden rack tomorrow and will sit down to determine how/where things should go. As someone who books their own  listening sessions in advance, I take the placement of objects inside the listening room quite seriously.

Well, best of luck to you in your Feng Shui trials tomorrow :)

I really wanna try running the monos & HE-6 @ 16 Ohms, but none of my contacts have gotten back to me yet on what I gotta do. I'm hoping there's no soldering involved. Whatever switch/jumper I need access to lies beneath. The older models simply had taps exposed and one would place 1 of 2 spade connectors on the 4-8-16 Ohm screw.

It'd be nice to handle making the switch before I put the rig back in to play. Currently running the blocks in 8 Ohm operation, so I'll know which is better or worse or should know.

Great setup!  But I pity the poor plant standing there, lucky it's a hardy species.  I should reorganise my configuration.  One more piece of equipment and my wife moves out (haven't told her yet that there's a FirstWatt amp underway, I'll casually mention it during valentine's dinner).  But hey, I sold my DT-880's.

Thanks. Yeah, that plant has some strong genes! It was neglected at the time because I was two years into being a 24/7 caregiver and many things got overlooked. I'd like you to know the plant has been revitalized and is with me now in good health.

Since you like tempting fate, I think it best I don't log-in to head-fi on Valentine's Day. I'll find out what became of you on Saturday. :p

I haven't told the girlfriend about the new speakers I have nor some other incoming goodies. Fortunately, she lives 80 miles away and I have time to think through an excuse.
