I've seen you lauding the project ember around the interwebs, razr! I can't wait to hear your impressions of the he-6 being driven by yours. smily_headphones1.gif

That's what I'll be driving them from at first. Later in the week I'll also have a Bantam Gold speaker amp to hook them up to

I got them from pataburd so they'll be coming with a solid core silver cable as well

Congrats and welcome!

Mine has gone to HifiMan for replacement, both sides were dead on arrival brought from an Head-fi'er. He paid for replacement cost and is great guy to deal with.

Now my question, I got EMO UPA-200 just for HE-6 and right now I have BIFROST and LYR stack, with current setup I can use LYR as preamp, but I am looking for balanced DAC with vol control, please suggest a good DAC for less than 1K.

Violectric V800 has volume control, balanced in/out and performs very well (cfr reviews).  It'll cost more than 1k USD new though but if you keep your eyes open it'll be possible to snatch one for around that amount.  Very happy with mine.

how abt this... mine is the older version without the knob.

it powers the he6 without much issue..98% of my albums are fine...cept some v quiet recordings. :P

( if u tell Kingwa from audiogd u are using it with the HE6, he can increase the gain for u b4 he dispatches it)

I'd recommend getting a good dac, and a separate high quality preamp - instead of trying to go for an all in one unit.

Of cos..... Of cos......do buy the best u can afford ... I was struggling with 500bucks then...tongue.gif
And within audioGd there are higher range of dedicated dacs to pick from,
I haven't feel the need to upgrade from what I am hearing.
Maybe one day I will shoot for the Masters/reference whatever it is called then.

+1

I never felt this way until relatively recently, when I realised that with the HE-6 and HD800 in the house I had headphones that really rewarded exerting utmost control over all aspects of the chain.

+2  Looks like the path I took... until I veered off into the goodie store for some ice-cream (haagen-dazs dulce de leche)

Welp tomorrow is the day that they arrive. I'll be sure to leave impressions on how they work with the Project Ember then and more later as I get acclimated to the HE-6. Then later it'll be time to see how they sound with the Bantam Gold when that comes.
