While the LCD-X are excellent headphones, they certainly don't outclass the 3-years old HE-6.

I just wanted to reassure you about that :D

Honestly, I'm not surprised :)

I am a fanboy of no headphone brand, but I naturally find myself gravitating to HiFiMan in full-size, IEM, and portable player. I would love to see Fang make a TT - oh my... could you imagine?

I have the hd800, the he6. Lcd3 the stax 009 and the he60. I can say other than the lcd3. The others are about ten percent of each other and the he60. Has a sound that is euphoric not like the others. So yes I love my he6. And I do not think there is much beyond them.

I've only two concerns:

1. Having enough money leftover to buy Multi-vitamins... (soup complement)

2. Will the 'Zero' place my precious little blocks in harms way

Should I proceed succeed, make 'em  Champagne smileys! I could really :thumb:use Steve Eddy's voice of reasoning right now.

For me, about the only way i would consider ponying up $500 for these babies is if all I had was a 5-10 WPC tube amp like a 300B or something.

...Paging Mr. Steve Eddy...!

My reasoning is that if i already own other amps, especially a more powerful speaker amp, or a beefy headphone amp, wasting power via resistors is a non-issue, unless you have a low power amp...just like a 300B tube amp or similar. That's where the autoformers really has it's advantages...efficient power transfer.

Well I was kinda hoping as we discover newer technology better sound would come with it.  Huumm I guess not.  So what's the Pros and Cons of the LCD-X?

I'm intrigued. But simply don't know enough. This has to be an exercise bearing a peach. Otherwise, might as well leave the creme in the fridge...
