YES - I feel the same way Dave.  It's just to much.

Food for thought-

French Toast. I was awakened this morning by something as simple... warm... and delicious as French Toast. Not by the aroma but images sitting at the foot of my bed. The transition from dreamscape to wide awake was not a rude one. In fact, I would have slept right through had I not been faced with the choice:

French Toast w/French butter & warm pure Canadian Maple Syrup or Powdered sugar

As I began to make the bed, another choice quickly popped into my head: 8 Ohms or 16 Ohms? Now I'm wondering would there be any advantage to switching my amps' output from 8 Ohm to 16 Ohm and getting the appropriate resistors? At an approximate 7.5 watts/50 Ohms, yes that's sufficient. But, if I could harness 14-15wpc... why not?! :normal_smile :

its very good.......

too tired to listen right now since i just got back from my overnight shift. will listen later and this weekend though.

as of now, the bass is the best i've heard, the headphones get louder than they do on the GSX MK2, not by a huge margin, but enough to give you a full dynamic range, theres no strain or clipping or congestion anywhere. it fully drives the he-6, i think the he-6 actually manage to reach their natural clipping limit without any problems

sound quality, not sure yet. but it sounds good. the transients, separation, and mids on the he-6 are very neutral and natural sounding now.

50wpc if im not mistaken. Can't find much else about it. I do know Mr. Pass was part of this joint venture (forte audio) though.

What do you mean louder?

With 18dB gain, the GS-X should have more than enough volume already. At what crazy volume do you listen to .

With the EF-6 I never go past 11 O'clock (3V DAC with -10dB input gain).

I measured the SPL (SPL-8810) at the volume I usually like to listen: it never goes past 85dBC, even during peaks. On the knob it's around 10.

The volume control on the EF-6 is not that great, I get 5dBC between steps (at least the first ones I tried), that's way too much to set for a precise volume...

Has anyone here ever tried a big speaker amp and not liked it?

Yes many, to include McIntosh SS amps.
