Need help (literally) soldering in a new cable on a denon AH-D5000 (Melb, Aus)

I've ordered a cable since my stock one is worn, but I'm not confident I can solder it in properly.

I'm looking for someone in Melbourne who has the sufficient soldering skills, soldering kit and quality solder and a bit of epoxy (or whatever the white mass here http://www.lawtonaudio.com/wpimages/wp944107a2_0f.jpg is) + a bit of free time in about two weeks to do the job. I'm willing to pay if necessary.

Alternatively, does anyone know of any places around Bundoora, Preston, Templestowe  or Greensborough (electronics repair shops maybe) that could do the job for a reasonable charge (especially if I can give them a guide on how to take apart and put back together the cups - has anyone seen a D5000 recable guide?).

Mkay, nevermind, it's quite elementary to resolder it (opened the cups to take the pics for nakpro to determine the stripped wire and exposed wire lengths)

Does anyone know what color wires are +/- soldered to the drivers?

I take it I can find out by taking a multimeter and testing whether it shows +- X.Y V (while the headphones are plugged in and the power is on?) and then soldering the new wires, so that the +- reading matches? (if I'm veeery wrong here, please tell me what the proper way is)

Headphones don't generally have + and -  since its a AC system of sorts. You could use a continuity tester (which any good multimeter has) between the pad and the jack - on a TRS, ground generally corresponds to the 'sleeve' or the part closest to the part of the plug where the wire goes in. Likewise, the ring and tip should have continuity with the two signal cables but i can't remember which is which

Generally the colours of the wires are copper orange for ground, Red for Right and bLue (or green) for Left

Also that mystery white stuff looks an aweful lot like hot glue- wonderful stuff when you want to be sure than cable ain't coming off too easily, while having something you can remove without permanant physical damage.

faileas,

Thanks, looks like your reply nailed what what I wanted to know :). and for the tip with hot glue, since epoxying things is probably a bit 'hardcore'.
