Thanks for the info and what I saw today verifies what you say. :beerchug:

When I  listened today Audirvana showed it was playing DSD and the DAC was playing 24/196........the sound I heard was equal to the best sounding music my system ever produced. The only other Hi rez format I have is 24/96 FLAC and it sounds pretty darn good too.  When music sounds good its a beautiful thing

Currently, the upgrade kit is about $3000. Would you guys think that the DirectStream upgrade kit would be available from other distributors like the MKII upgrade kit?

In the past, I think the MKII upgrade kit was available for 3 months after its release date. Correct me if I am mistaken.

Yes, the upgrade kit will be available through PS Audio dealers and depending on the dealer, for less $$$. A lot less. A dealer already quoted me a price.

Well I put in for the directstream upgrade kit and got a nice discount on it. Was really torn about doing kit vs trade in, as I could audition with trade in. In the end, I decided to just trust ps audio and same the money.

Where did you order your upgrade from?  I didn't think it was going to be available until May.

Orders for trade in upgrades have been happening since march and I think for upgrade kits as well. I know ps audio website was taking trade in orders and you could contact ps audio dealer as well.

Deliveries for trade ins start soon and may for upgrade kits. No idea how backup they are now.

If you don't have ps audio dealer, pm me and I'll refer you to mine and he'll take your order

How much was upgrade cost?

3995 for trade in which is basically new unit.

2995 for upgrade kit which basically replaces everything except for chassis and screen. So basically like new direct stream aside for chassis/badging.

Directstream however isn't so much an upgrade to pwd mkii as completely different tech. Not using standard third party dac but internally developed dac.

btw pricing is stated pricing and better pricing might be available.
