Purchased recently from a user here at head fi who knew this was in need of a quick repair, but failed to tell me. He is being difficult with me in not replying for 5 or so days now. I contacted him the day i received it, he seemed to think this was normal behavior for the unit and never replied back since that day. This item was meant as a gift for someones birthday and I dont have time to play games with him and wait for his reply and find out he wont refund me.
The output jack needs to be replaced. It may be a quick solder job if you or someone else you know has soldering skills. I contacted Ibasso and was given a link to its replacement part, its $1.04 + shipping, dirt cheap and could very well be easily replaced if you know how to solder well.

Sound is not produced unless the headphones are plugged in fully and pushed upward and held there. Sound that comes through is magnificent, tested with another D3 to compare and make sure this was a faulty output jack. It is, and the sound is identical with the working D3 and when you push upwards on this one. The USB method tested with foobar2000 works perfectly as well, but again no sound unless you push upwards. Some headphones were garbled in sound, some like my Yuin Pk1s played ok without pressing upward, likely due to its light weight skinny jack.
$100 shipped, anyone with soldering experience is going to get an immense deal. The d3, the black unused case cover ( silver is installed now as seen in the pic ), USB cord, mini to mini cable, extra screws are all included.
