Bach Toccata and Horns instead of Organ

I had a tower records sony compilation disc before(around 1999-2001) it was called something like new directions in classical and it had a toccata in D played using horns instead of an organ. It blew me away. I was wondering if anyone knows exactly which one I'm talking about because I can't seem to find that cd listed anywhere online. If no one knows exactly what cd I'm talking about please recommend me some toccata played with horns.

Horns meaning trumpets, trombones, french horns, tubas, etc... Any recommendations? Or how do I search for toccata with horns for example. I am clueless when searching for classical recordings. It's a whole different ballgame compared to pop/rock stuff because of all the details.

I think you are looking for a wind band version of the old standby. An amazon search for "Bach Toccata and Fugue Winds" turned out this

http://www.amazon.com/Eastman-Wind-Ensemble-Live-Osaka/dp/B0000027IY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1274130050&sr=8-3loo

If you feel patriotical and/or prefer downloads you may want to try this track

http://www.amazon.com/Bachs-Toccata-Fugue-D-Minor/dp/B002ZPW330/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1274130264&sr=8-1-catcorr

the US marines have a good band...

oh BTW if you want to hear another fun and bombastic version of the Bach Toccata and Fugue try the Stokowski orchestral transcription

http://www.amazon.com/Leopold-Stokowski-Philadelphia-Orchestra-Saint-Sa%C3%ABns/dp/B002I4J5QQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1274130875&sr=1-3

this is a 1927 recording in surprisingly good sound. Unfortunately this CD is way overpriced on amazon ATM.

For a modern well-reviewed recording (which I haven't heard) try

http://www.amazon.com/Stokowski-Bach-Transcriptions-Vol-2/dp/B001LKLKRK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1274130743&sr=1-5

The Oregon Symphony Horns did a recording that included the toccata and fugue in D minor.

Mendelssohn, Bach - Oregon Symphony Horns and Friends

It's a difficult CD to find.  It doesn't even look like Amazon has it listed used or new (my Amazon search-fu may be weak).

Stokowski's arrangement of the toccata in d is the same thing as the one I heard! Except the version I heard was better sonically.
