Ok here's the deal I've got a iPod nano 5th gen and I'm looking at new player, now after much research I've nailed it down to the iPod classic 160gb and the sansa fuze. Now the questions.... First up for those that have had both players which one sounds better? With the fuze I'm hearing that there's little or no difference between that and the sansa clip+ is this true? With the iPod classic apart from the obvious storage space is there much difference in the sound quality? With the fuze I'm looking for a program kinda like iTunes in which I can create playlists, Increase the volume of the songs like you can in iTunes. Is there a similar program or maybe something better? This is a must for me. Again with the fuze is there any major bugs, flaws etc....? And is there the option in the fuze where you can set your region like Europe, north America etc... To get the highest volume possible like you can in the clip+? Thanks for all help and replies :)

1) Fuze/Clip+ sound quality is pretty much identical.
2) I'd go for the Fuze if you don't need the extra space and don't want to use iTunes.
3)Sound quality of Classic to Fuze? The Fuze is rockboxable and has a custom equalizer. On a flat setting I'd still pick the Fuze

I'd have to agree with Young Spade. If you do not need a lot of space the Fuze should be the DAP to go with.
I do not know if there is one single software that can replace iTunes. I use a bunch of free software:
- Exact Audio Copy to rip CD:s to wav-files.
- CDex to convert to mp3-files using the latest Lame encoder available (at the moment v3.98.4). Just download the Lame encoder and unzip it in the CDex folder and it should show up in the list of encoders in CDex.
- MP3 gain to analyze and change gain level (album or track, I prefer to go with album gain as it keeps the original dynamic of the album)
- MP3 tag for multiple tagging. You can use tagging in media applications, but for me it is easier to use MP3 tag
- Media Monkey to create playlists and to transfer music to my DAP:s. There is other software such as Winamp and J.River media center (I think this is only 30 day trial and then you have to pay) and Foobar 2000. I have not tried Foobar 2000, but out of the former 3 that I have tried, I prefer Media Monkey.
It might be a lot of software to juggle with, but I feel it is better to use specialized software that do one task really well than to use a jack-of-all-trades that do all tasks okay.

I installed the Media Monkey, how do you sync your music into the player? How do you make a playlist then put the playlist into the DAP? Will the files be repeated?

Well I don't know about the fuze vs the clip+ since I haven't compared and never will but the fuze isn't bad. Using the stock firmware and using rockbox does make quite a difference however. Navigation is improved on rockbox and there are more customization options and you get access to much better EQ and other ways to change the sound.
The best part about it is that if you want more space you can just purchase a microSDHC card and is a pretty cheap way to increase memory.
Thanks for the repiles :) ok im gonna pick one later on, just a few more questions regarding the player itself and other programs to use it with....
1. would the yuin pk3 earbuds be a good choice to go with? If not which earbuds would you guys recommend?
2. Im probably gonna purchase a 32gb mirco sd with this as well but i see they come in different classes? like class 1, 2 etc... what does this mean? And which class is best to get?
3. With mp3 gain can i use this program to increase the volume of the songs?
4. Is there a stable version of rockbox avaliable for the v2 fuze?
Thanks :)

2: Speeds of the card. For using it with the player it won't matter which class you get but when putting large amounts of music on the card at one time, the better the class the faster the transfer speeds are.
3: Yes

Hello, perhaps I can answer a few of your questions.
1. I own Yuin PK3 earbuds and I have bought them for my wife as well, and we are both very happy with them. For the low price, I think that they are the best earbuds around. If you go higher, there are the PK2 and PK1 as well as the OK series. Then there is Blox TM5 which seems to be the new star earbud, but which is very expensive. Sennheiser also makes some good earbud. I only own MX360, and compared to my PK3 they are not very good. Although I might check other earbuds out later, for me the PK3 are fine at the moment.
2. Young Spade answered that one. Cards with lower speeds are usually cheaper and the only time the speed really is noticeable is when you transfer data onto it...
3. Yes, you can use MP3 gain to increase the volume of the songs. It will not change the MP3 files in anyway except that the volume is marked up. However, I would advice you to not raise the volume too much as it might introduce clipping, i.e. distortion when you listen. After I have ripped a CD and converted to MP3-files, I use MP3 gain to change the volume of the MP3-files. I always lower the volume and keep it between 89 and 91dB (album gain, I prefer that to track gain as album gain preserves the original dynamics of the album). The sound of the files might be lower, but I just use raise the volume on my DAP. When changing the volume to 89-91dB I have not had any clipping or distortion. So I advice you to not raise the volume of the files too much...
4. I do not know.
