Quick recommendations for specific issues

Hey, long time surfer here but haven't been around in a while.  I need some quick suggestions based on the following:

Look for some full sized cans up to $300

Me: 48, so NOT an audiophile.  Bad tinnitus and mid-range hearing loss from military accident.  I have loud ringing in both ears but the worst thing is I have a hyper-sensitivity to high, shrill frequencies.  I like a lot of bass but not ridiculous amounts and I like it tight and clean.  I don't listen to music too loud for obvious reasons, but want something that is really 'clear' so even at lower volumes it will sound great.  I will use them mostly at work so they should be comfortable.  Sound leakage is not a problem.  I tried NC phones in an attempt to get a quieter background but that was a bust.  I cannot tolerate IEM's - believe me, I've tried them all.  Also, I tend to run warm body temp-wise and ears get sweaty with leather-type ear cups.

Music:  Since I grew up in the '70's I like just about all guitar based rock 'n roll.  But I also like folk, techno, newer pop stuff, jazz, classical, accapella, - pretty much everything except hardcore rap and really old country.  Music is all my own low-bit rate rips from my old CD collection and Rhapsody subscription files.  So no loss-less, or high bit rate mp3's here.

Source:  My cell phone, an LG EnV Touch.  So not a great source, not a lot of volume and pretty basic.  No amp, no dedicated player, nothing.  The cans should be able to be pushed by this type of source.  So phones that give a true representation are probably not best.  Something colored and 'fun' would probably be best.  If the phones have microphone capability that is a plus but certainly not a requirement.

I've used in the past Shure, Denon, Creative, and Altec Lansing IEM's, Sennheiser PX100's, Bose products (yeah, yeah) and a few others.  Now I'm just looking for something new in my price range that will sound great given all the above issues.  I plan to order a bunch of products from Amazon and just return what I don't like and keep trying until I find something that I really like.

So, what have you got for me?

Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions.  I'll post results here of each set I try and whether they were a keeper or not, and why.

M.

No suggestions for someone with all my 'issues'? ;-)  Believe me, sometimes I feel that way.

Anyway, I might try some entry level Grado's.  How are the high's on those though?

Before I saw your second post I was going to recommend Grado's or actually the Alessandro MS1 to be exact. It's only $100 and has the most tamed highs that I know of in the lower Grado lineup. The Grado SR225 is very similar to the MS1 but costs $75-100 more. These cans are bright, but not shrill IMO. And if you buy the MS1 and don't like it, you can sell it pretty quick.
