So, I tried to connect m iPod to sync new music, and the hard drive started clicking. The Apple logo shows up, then shuts off and constantly restarts. I can boot into Disk Mode, but the computer doesn't even recognize it and iTunes crashes every time I connect it. I read somewhere to try restarting my computer...and now my computer won't boot into Windows, normally or through safe mode, it just stalls during startup. As a result, I have to reinstall Windows, but luckily I had backed up all but 2 songs yesterday on to a portable drive, so that's okay.
My question is, is my iPod done? And has this happened to anyone else (the Windows crash)? I'm hesitant to even try and sync it with my laptop for fear that something will happen to it's OS too...thanks! Sorry for the long-winded post

I don`t know how, but somehow plugging the iPod into the computer in disk mode with the hard drive malfunctioning might have corrupted files on the computer that are needed for startup. I`m sorry that you have to go through the trouble of reinstalling Windows.
