SOLD

Why would anyone do this? Well, here's the story. I originally received my 336se and was completely unimpressed. Sound was awful, volume tracking wasn't even close and it smelled like a Chinese component barbecue so I had to keep my fire extinguisher at the ready. I didn't want to deal with return shipping it to DV so I decided I would at least do some basic upgrades to make the unit listenable (volume pot, rca signal wiring to pot, headphone jack, etc). But once I opened it up to make my shopping list, I realized its poor performance was due to very poor assembly and internal components. The amp design and architecture was very good, so my curiosity got the best of me and I decided I had to hear what it could do with proper components and assembly. In a complete fit of insanity, I proceeded to order high quality replacement parts for everything. Only standard parts left, chassis, transformer, output caps, IEC connector and circuit board (which I mostly bypassed for signal purity and really only left in place for output cap attachment). I will add a comprehensive list of all parts shortly.

WOW!!! It sounded like a million bucks. It went from boat anchor, to more than worthy of its beautiful exterior design. So why am I selling it??? Well, here's where my insanity reached new heights.

If the 336se can do this, just imagine what the 337se would be capable of!!!!

So yes, I did it I order a 337se with full knowledge ahead of time that it would require yet another episode of Darkvoice Overhaulin'. And yes, the 337se is to die for after overhaul. Needless to say, 337se gets all the head time now. No sense in my 6 million Dollar Amp (Bionic Man reference, yes we can build it better) just sitting around when it should be in a good home delivering perma-smile to a fellow headfier.

My investment
