What connectors did you use at the earcup end? They look like 1/8" mono jacks, but I presume they are proprietary, locking connectors (at least on the FA-003).

The plug is neutrik NYS226. I removed those lockers so it could fit.

Well I dont have too much experience with full size headphones, so perhaps my brain needs a little burning in. Im comparing the digitechs mostly to the gr07, which I have been listening to for quite a while now. To me, the digitechs are nowhere near as natural as the gr07. They sound recessed overall, and when I turn the volume up vocals sound almost cottony. Its not like full blown cottony, but enough to bother me. Lol does that make sense? Like if youve ever heard a cheap speaker, and someone starts singing really loud and the sound just comes out painful because the speaker cant handle it? Like that but to a lesser extent.

maybe i'll try with your configuration with canare cable, my internal cable already change with stock HD650 spare cable done by my friend.

The Lake People G100 does a pretty good job. I just received my Jaycars/Digitechs a couple of hours ago.

I was thinking of getting the HM5s and was even more keen once I realised they were similar to the FA003s, I can get the clones locally for half the price of the HM5s (which I would have to import).

I was wondering if anyone has done a lengthy comparison between the FA003/HM5 and Jaycar clones.

I've read through this thread but may have missed it.

Do the cord and sockets on the clones have the same red/blue right/left markings as the HM5 and FA003 ?

It is possible that either Fischer or Brainwavz did some tweaking, I hope this isn't the case though :)

My used Brainwavz HM5 arrived a few hours ago.

Plugged into my Yamaha  RX-V671 A/V receiver makes them sound great, seems to be a good movie headphone.

I did not want to pay the higher price of the FA-003 just for the Velour ear pads.

Hopefully soon they will sell the Velour ears pads separately.

I honestly can't imagine why Fischer or Brainwavz would spend R&D money on tweaking if they were just getting a pre-made driver from an oem manufacturer for cheap anyways.
