Preferably sold together.

It'll be about 2 months before I get my EF-5 amp back, and I'll test it to ensure working order before payment and shipping.

Reasons for why I'm selling. A very negative review (well, not really a review. Just aspects of build quality) by myself, I know. But I'd prefer to be perfectly honest rather that deceive someone as to why I'm selling these. It boils down to the fact that I've already invested several hundred more than I bargained for (the purchasing price) for a product that doesn't work as advertised, aggravated by the fact that I can't seem to enjoy orthodynamics as some other members do. I also find that I vastly prefer oval earpads to circular ones and I'm not certain if it is possible to get oval pads on HE-5s.

These are about the same as you would get new from Head Direct or Headroom etc. The sound signature is amiable - perhaps one of the better HE-5s. The build quality - not as much (though still not much worse than the 'average' HE-5, I believe). I believe that they are cosmetic, however. Read the link for more details.

My greatest regret is that my single best aural experience was on these headphones - the most exhilarating, lively performance I've heard in my life rendered on these phones. The same track in question on my other setups sound almost bland and dull in comparison. It really is a river of regret.

They were manufactured (or shipped?) on 3/18/10 (as written on the box). They have about 200 hours of burn in, though about 100 hours of actual use.

I'll take pictures of there is any actual interest. I don't know how much I'd part with them for, but shoot me any offers (I hope this isn't against forum rules). No trades please (MAYBE if you had ESW-10JPNs, just MAYBE), I'm done with Hi-Fi.

I'd prefer to ship within Canada, though to continental US is also fine. I will consider shipping world wide, but that is at the buyer's expense.

Paypal only, please.

Extra details - From a no pets, no smoking house.

I have no feedback on Headfi and only +1 on ebay. I think however, the person I A/B'd HE-5s can vouch for me.

Thanks,

Matt

Edited post a bit.

I can vouch for Matt. I was listening to my newly purchased HE5/EF5 and was noticing a bit of harshness in the sound, particularly in the upper trebble. I then began doing a bit of reading and stumbled across some guys who had compared directly different pairs of HE5's and noticed differences in the treble, that they attributed to QC issues at Head-Direct. A little concerned, I looked around for another Vancouver head-fier who owned HE5's. Coming across Matt, I sent him a PM and he gladly agreed to take time out of his schedule to come meet with me and let me compare our two sets of headphones. He was a good guy, seemed very sincere and earnest. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from him.
