iphone 3G line out distortion

I notice alot of distortion when using line out at for music with heavy bass.  I thought line out were suppose to give me better sound?

what audio format did you use? what amp did you use?

MP3 320kbps, tried both ibasso D10 and CMOY.   5.5gen didn't have that problem and neither does my sony.

Check itunes equalizer settings and switch off anything currently turned on - check again and see.

I did, I tried everything, upgrading firmware.  I don't get it, I heard it has a decent DAC(Wolfson) and the LOD is suppose to bypass the amp, I am thinking not because of the distortion.

It's possible that the unit is faulty then? Worth getting it checked out.

 

itunes / ipod equalizer settings always seem to introduce audible distortion which is the reason I mentioned it.

 

Using the line out via the dock connector only bypasses the headphone amplifier, it still uses the DAC and preamp sections to output a low level signal,

Only other time I heard distortion with this file is when I had udac outputted to my Elekit amp.  I have the gain on the udac all the way up and that caused bass distortion.

Do you guys think its a possibility that the distortion is caused by DC offset from bypassing capacitors??

who says you are bypassing caps by using the lineout? there is definitely something up, 3G has a great line out, pretty close to my DIYMOD in many aspects and it doesnt have any kind of distortion
