I have a Denon 3808CI which contains the DAC: PCM1791A. When I plugged my SE 530s in the volume automatically seems to go down (not sure if this means the signal is passing through different opamps or anything and I actually can't find the opamps used in the 3808). Anyway, I was wondering if the improvement in sound this produces would be similar in amount that another portable product would produce? The reason I ask is I don't want to buy the Hifiman 801 or s:flo2 and not notice any difference when working out. I currently use the Samsung YP-T9 and found with my SE530 the improvement was substantial when I had a friend switch between my YP-T9 and my AVR but am not sure I would notice any difference unless I was lying motionless with silence in the background.
I no longer have my SE530 but should sometime in the year 2010 get my JH 16 pros... molds went out 2wks ago
