My choice for the SQ is, in this order: Sony>Samsung>Cowon>Sansa. The addition of RockBox on the Sansa DAP's is quite nice, but I prefer the other 3 brands to it.

Even though I bought mine online and it was shipped from overseas, my A846 menus are in english.

Yes, the lower capacity models can be had w/an English menu - but the 64gb A Series is Japanese only,.......I'm so saddened by Sony's stupidity.

As far as i'm aware that's because a european version of nw-a847 (i.e. nwz-a847) has not yet been released (or even anounced). The stupidity as far as i'm concerned is releasing the two lower capacity ones in europe but not the big one but I'm also hoping that will be rectified when the x-series is sold out completely (avoiding self competition).

 

@OP If 16gb is enough storage capacity go for the a829, it can be had really cheap for the quality/size.

Which players are you talking about? My a818 gets plenty loud for me. If you're in Europe, I think the volume may be capped.

All my US Sony devices have had great volume, and the EU ones seem to be the volume capped players. My stuffage is loud as h-e-c-k.

Wrong. The only country which imposes volume cap is France. Unless you get a unit from france it will not be capped. And I am speaking from my own experience.
