Sony Walkman NWZ815 Vs Sony X Series

Umm, I bought a Walkman NWZ for very cheap. It was only 2GB and I've already finished the storage, I would delete the songs but unfortunately all the songs are quite "Special" to me, so I don't want to delete many of them.

I thought I got something AMAZING for so cheap.

I'm just wondering if the price tag for the X series is worth it. All I want is a high quality music device with good storage. Not really big on the internet access/radio stations.

How about it, if I was to compare a NWZ 815 V Sony X series, what would be your verdict?

And are there any other music devices that can compare?

Plus I got some loyalty for the Walkman series after they sold me something so good for so cheap.

Basically, some guy said that if I'm upgrading from an existing Walkman, I shouldn't. 2 cents?

I own two sony walkman mp3 players.  A S636F and a x1051.  When I got my s636F, I noticed the sound quality being very high compared to other player.  After upgrading to x1051, there was improvements, but not drastic to justify paying $150 more.  I hope this helps

How were the improvements? Did they change your listening experience?

Would you of bought them again if you knew about the sound quality beforehand?

I think the mids were little better and had great sound stage(which is rare in a mp3 player) when listening with RE0, and wasn't too bad with HD650 amped(D10).  Sony go really well with RE0.   For the S636F, high frequencies and low frequencies are emphasied, which still sounds better then other players which are flat sounding, but X series is balanced frequency range wise.  I wouldn't have bought it, not worth extra $150, unless you like a nice OLED screen and touch functionality.

Okay, thank you.

Do you have any recommendations on the highest music player?

My NWZ doesn't have much boom and when I borrowed a friends HTC phone, even with the stock earphone I was blown away, the music hit me hard and I felt no pain ;d

I doubt that sound quality is good though.  You have an amp?  I would amp it, it will give you better bass response(needs power), notice the batteries in Monster Beats?   If you dont like to carry amps, get a low impedance headphone with good bass response, RX900(kinda ugly and big), sony XB700, or ask in the IEM section.  Headphone will give you the boom.

If the S639 came in 32gb I would never have bought the 32gb X-1061,............just saying.

The Sony X is good, but other than those wireless etc. features, the sound is very close to the latest A series, according to reports I have read here.

The SQ is almost even, but I just wanted a 32gb Sony DAP. Now, as High_Q stated, it's not $150.00 better. If the S639 came in a 32gb model I'd have jumped on it,....I even contemplated the new 64gb A Series,................but I'm not biting as the menu is ONLY in Japanese.

You seem to own a lot of music devices, what would be your personal opinion on what I should get?
You see, I got a 2GB Walkman, it keeps flashing lights and storage is completely full. I would imagine for there to be some better music player I could buy instead of this cheap & small Walkman.

You can get quality 16GB Sony MP3 players like the NWZ-S545, NWZ-E445 and NWZ-A729/A829 dirt cheap.

I got the Sony NWZ-A729 for just £70 (aprox $104) which is excellent value. I then got the X1060 but I bought it from a clearance bargin store so didn't pay anywhere near the usual retail price.

Sony MP3 players are great, but you just need to look around and find the best deal you can.

Would you say sony players are the best, reign supreme and are above all others?
