best budget usb dac/amp? - Page 2

So after a lot of reading I found out that apparently the dac cable sounds not quite as good as the ibasso d1 and the mx1 dac sounds much better than the ibasso d1.  Since it seems that the D10 and D4 are the best ibassos, and I read that the mx1 sounds better than either, the mx1 is the clear winner in the dac area.  Now the amp on the mx1 isn't the best, its pretty good for under $200.  So I don't think any dac amp combination can beat the mx1 for under $200.  Also it can be usb powered, has optical and line outs, and if you buy one you'll probably get it sometime this year... (headstage)

Now to find a good price.

Have you considered the <$200 Purepiper DAC A-1? Beats the uDAC but I haven't read a comparison between the A-1 and the MX1. I have a good feeling about the A-1 though. It's internals look really promising.

Dear DerelictMind,

May I know where did you found out about this? Thinking of choosing between a few DACs of my own, so your input on suggested and further reading is very much appreciated. =)

Thanks.

I found a review here:

http://www.headfonia.com/?p=3627

I may of seen other less detailed reviews, but I don't remember.  Try an advanced search on head-fi for "mx1 AND d10" (no quotes) and search by post.  I found that works best for any searching.

Edit: They did another review wher they said that the mx1 was clearly better than the udac.

Edit2: Wow my grammer was bad in that post.

Just my $0.02.

I tried ibasso D2 on various phones, it can drive DT990 600ohm in desired volume with the volume knob to the max.

The overall result is ok.

If portability is not an issue, I'll say Aune mini usb dac/amp mk2 can do the job.

It's cheap, around $150, and it does have the slack to power DT990 600 ohm to very loud volume.

One reservation I have is that it's usb does not sound as good as it's coaxial input (which is often true for most of the kind..)..
