Sony X series louder with stock headphones?

Thread Starter

Why is the stock headphones louder than any other headphone?  Is there special hardware the stock headphone has that amplifies the sound?  The highs and mids sound much louder compared to any other headphones.  For volume of 14 on stock I would have to raise the volume to like 24 for other headphones.  Is the hardware built to amplify the stock headphone better?  If so, I am not very pleased with this overpriced player, its not much different than my s636F.  I tried RE0 and volume is so much lower than my s636F, I am so displeased because of how much this player cost and all the praising this player got from member of this forum.  Is there something that I am missing?

The stock headphones are needed for the built in noise cancellation. Perhaps that is the reason they are louder?

I've read that an amp is needed to drive the RE0, but I could be wrong.

Maybe it's just a matter of "synergy" devil
