Another Grado in my cap ;) - Page 2

post #16 of 26

@SillyHoney:

Whatever's in my profile, but in particular I was thinking about some of the more forward sounding electrostats I've been listening to for the last 2-3 weeks, i.e. 404LE and HE-60 (HE-60s arent mine). They're more detailed, airy, transparent, and definitely more bassy (especially the HE-60) than my rs-1.

I do have a pair of 202s (they were also my first stax) however they sound a bit when compared to the grado sound signature.

Actually I meant to say the 202s sound very different to the grados I've heard/owned.

^It's nice. I was expecting a little softer material to prevent long term scuffing but that wasn't the case. the pouch that is little more than an elastic bag sheath is much softer, so I keep the wood cups facing that side smily_headphones1.gif

A quick question - it's been like 15 hours now, and I seem to be getting a slightly smoother, silkier sound that the SR225 in the mid-range - this is making symphony music sound more natural. Is this in line with other users experiences? Also I do seem to be getting some micro details like breaths - sure it's there on the SR225, but here is a little more noticeable, as if I was closer to the singer, although the soundstage remains the same - is this accurate? Finally, they're still bass shy - slightly - but I've not yet amped them, since all my listening is in office ATM. The SR225 broke in the bass at around 200 hours - is it the same here?

Oh man, the guitar mid bass, and the distortion is to die for. Vocals are like cream. Money well spent, but I want more! Where does this stop?

Thanks!

^Bilavideo - you were absolutely correct! Thanks a bunch. I've just crossed 100 hours now, and I can notice a big difference. May be it's not 50 per cent, but even 15 per cent is so darn noticeable.

I'm glad to see that you're ecstatic over your RS1i's but could you possibly rethink your choice of analogy?

Done!

^ No, I don't think so. I was referring to your third sentence in the last paragraph of post #20. I don't want to sound prudish but it's in poor taste. I doubt whether the moderators would approve.
