Ultrasone Edition 8 "Limited Edition" - Page 2

Nothing bad about the palladium/ruthenium ED8's, but I still think the accents on the LE are more posh. Could have used a lighter color of leather though. Any one have an idea of the price on the LE's?

i love the wooden accents, but i think the standard edition 8's are at the very top of the chain as far as posh and luxury is concerned.

That's just silly.  First they raise the MSRP by $200 for a "special edition" Palladium version.  Now they decide to raise it by a whopping $800 simply because they title it "limited edition", give it a different color leather, and engrave the word limited inside the ear cup swivel piece where no one will ever see it?  I honestly despise companies that engage in practices like this to sell their regular products at inflated prices.  No changes where it counts sonically, just externally, and you want an additional $800 for them?

I'm sure there is no coincidence with the price hike either.  Edition 8, 888 units, $800 in crease in MSRP.  Yawn.

only if they were $888

Eh, companies make money any way they can, that's the way the shareholders/owners usually like it. If they put the money back into R&D good for us, if not, oh well, at least they still have the original version.

Cool, a Limited Edition Edition 8.

lol..this is so silly...whats with the limited edition...the total production is 888 pair,i think that number is way too much for a high end headphones to be considered "limited"...

Those look exquisite!! The wooden addition really  makes the headphone look unique. Is there a price bump because of the limited supply?

Does anyone know for sure that there's no sonic changes?

Other hi fi gears often have tweaked special or limited editions that sell for twice as much as the standard ones. Not sure I agree with that kind of practice either but at least they would have a case if the new ones sounded different.

Who cares which one looks better, buy all three!

A quick amazon search shows that a HD800 is ¥160,000 in Japan :p You can't always compare prices directly between countries, there's things that affect the exchange rate (PPP, interest rates etc...) and also local supply & demand.

looks nice. i bet they had charged higher for dyeing the sheepskin.

just curious, since they have a limited run of 888 units, did Ultrasone mention how many were made the previous two versions?

At least the ruthenium version is supposed to be mass produced.
